But when we do that against Obama we are accused (by you, among others) of being racist, hateful, and dividing the country. I was not a Bush supporter in '00...and was forced to be one in '04...but given the alternatives there really WAS no alternative. And us "purists" have been proven RIGHT repeatedly by Obama and his ilk over the past 4 years with bloated government and a divided country.

There are VERY FEW "conk purists"...I've made no secret of the fact that I am pro-choice, anti-drilling, pro-repeal of DADT, support rights of gays to marry, etc., etc., etc....and 90% of the "conk purists" on this board deviate from "purity" on similar issues...maybe not ALL, but some. Conversely, I am VERY pro-fiscal conservatism, believe in the abolition of a half a dozen (or more) government agencies, 20% cuts across the board, flat tax, etc., etc., etc., and I believe the wealthy are ALREADY paying MORE than their fair share of the burden, especially when 47% of the population pays NO federal income taxes but reaps the bulk of the fiscal benefits from the entitlement programs designed to keep them voting donk.

We've seen what 4 years of Obama and his divisive policies can do to a once-great nation. 4 more years just may not be recoverable from. And that has NOTHING to do with me being a "conk purist" and EVERYTHING to do with common sense. The country is at a tipping point....November could very well determine which way it falls.

I voted for Al Gore once. That doesn't make me a democrat.

I think I may have voted for Jimmy Carter when he ran against Ford but I honestly can't remember if I voted in that one. I was 18. At one point I thought that at that time the voting age hadn't been dropped from 21 yet and I didn't vote but I looked it up and it was earlier than when Carter ran against Ford. I do know that I was "pulling for Carter." And I can remember singing "Johnson, Johnson, he's our man, Goldwater belongs in the garbage can." when I was a kid.

My Dad, God bless him, was a union guy so he was always for the Democrat and when I was a kid I reflected that. As soon as I got kind of on my own and started thinking...looking at stuff that was going on like Federal Judges forcing people to go to certain schools and such and seeing that the Democrats were aligned with the philosophical orientation behind that sort of thing...also stuff like how the Democratic Party favors a system of penalizing the successful while rewarding the indolent...I decided that the Democratic Party is Satan. And starting with voting for Ronald Reagan against Carter I have never "pulled for" or voted for another Democratic Party Presidential candidate again.

I'm not real keen on the Republican Party either. But, given the choice, it is definitely the FAR lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, it's an evil for which the future looks bright.
