All Time Low Voter Turnout?

Post by Wedgebuster »

8-)

Most boring election ever? Evidence is mounting, I even notice this right here at CS.Com Politics board (bored).

Likely we will have a low voter turnout this fall, the shit just keeps getting more and more....boring.

Only recently got boring enough for me to agree with it there Ivytaint.

We Republicans seem to be having a bit of erectile dysfunction these days with our nominee, by November nobody is going to care but the two candidates.

The combination of living in a state with three electoral votes (ie. my vote doesn't matter) and having been burned by candidates I've voted for from both parties the past twelve years is pretty much leading me toward sitting this one out. I'd rather be able to complain with a clear conscience. :D

I reckon the stoner turnout in WA and CO will be all time 'highs' in November. :rimshot: :silly:

Wake up America.

You, yea you, in the mirror, you're the problem with American politics.

Already more than 40% of you that can, don't vote. And that's just in a Presidential election.

How about doing this in November? First of all, vote, second of all, do some damn research before you vote - how do the people on the ballot stand on the issues most important to the nation, state, municipality, and ultimately to you? Don't pull a lever that votes straight party - America loses when you do that because both parties ideologies are impractical for today, they've both proven that.

Vote somebody else in. Let's face it, your representative(s) are the problem - they're voted in by mindless voters like yourself. How else can Congress consistently get approval ratings in single digits or less than 20%? Yet come election day, people turn a blind eye to what is in front of them...

Nancy Pelosi...is she in touch with what America needs? No. John Boehner, is he in touch with even his own party? Hardly. Do your part America, take your country back, make up YOUR OWN MIND and vote not for people that will goto Washington to grandstand and pontificate & not even engage the other side, but vote for a candidate that will actually study the issues, that will actually read what they're voting on, that can vote with a clear conscience versus what special interest lobbies are telling/demanding they vote for/against.

I'm not a Democrat, I'm not a Republican, I'm a damn American.

You can have 100% voter turnout and it will still come down to a Democrat or a Republican.

AZ's got it - vote 3rd party. Let the politicians know that you're fed up with current system. Not voting just enhances the power of the lunatic fringe elements in both parties.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Voting third party is a wasted vote, but my vote is wasted in my blue state anyway, so I might as well. :x

It's only a wasted vote if you're in a state where you're vote counts. If not, voting 3rd party might not change the course of the election but it helps to send the message to the politicians in DC that we're getting fed up with the BS (cue Twisted Sister). And that's better than not voting.

Didn't TTBF say that when one writes in a vote it pisses off the folks counting them?

I don't know why people see low voter turnout as necessarily a problem. We all know that the majority of the American public has no clue as to what's going on and what's around them. One thing I like to refer to is a poll I heard once where the majority of respondents couldn't identify the two countries bordering the contiguous United States. Another one I heard was one in which the majority of IVY LEAGUE STUDENTS couldn't name a single Justice on the Supreme Court at the time.

Why on earth would you want people who have no idea as to what's going on to vote? Leave voting to people who are engaged enough and care enough about what's going on to vote.

Which means, by the way, that what you should REALLY be concerned about is "get out to vote" efforts that bring people to the polls who wouldn't be voting on their own.

The best situation would be to have just those who actually decide to vote on their own go out and vote. To me if you have to actually contact somebody and say, "hey there's an election going on, you should vote, and here is why" we're better off if that person doesn't vote.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

If we limited voters to active posters on CS.com, would we cover all 50 states? :?
