I read a story today that Romney is leading Obama in 15 swing states by a margin of 51-43. It seems Obama is THE ONE who will be moving on.

None of these "Romney leading Obama" mouths are going to put their coin on the table, they are just going to continue to shoot their mouths off, just like Michelle Bachmann, she certainly is the voice of the GOP today, loud and wrong.

Re: Americans to Conks, Move ON Losers
How do you figure Bachmann to be the "voice of the GOP"? She was one of the first ones out of the running for the nomination because most folks leaning Republican found her to be a whackjob, not unlike Sarah Palin, Limbaugh, or Trump. Romney has the ball now IMO, the rest are bit players until the election.Wedgebuster wrote:None of these "Romney leading Obama" mouths are going to put their coin on the table, they are just going to continue to shoot their mouths off, just like Michelle Bachmann, she certainly is the voice of the GOP today, loud and wrong.

Most of the polls have more Dem participants than GOP participants. Rasmussen, as far as I know is the only poll that normalizes the results. Rasmussen also typically is the most accurate.Skjellyfetti wrote:Obama is up in most of the swing states.CitadelGrad wrote:I read a story today that Romney is leading Obama in 15 swing states by a margin of 51-43.

Re: Americans to Conks, Move ON Losers
I don't think it's an uncommon phenomenon. Over the years my perception has been that public opinion changes when Supreme Courts make decisions. The first time I noticed that was when I saw a series of historical polls on the issue of abortion. Before Roe vs. Wade, the overwhelming majority of the public was in favor of having abortion illegal. Very shortly after the opinion was issued...and I think it was within like a year...the overwhelming majority was against it.
My hypothesis is that a lot of people give the Supreme Court a lot more credibility than it deserves.
In this case it might be a little different. The poll doesn't appear to be about whether or not people favor the health care law itself. It's about whether or not they want opponents to drop efforts to get rid of it. But I still think it probably reflects an unduly high level of respect for the Supreme Court.

Re: Americans to Conks, Move ON Losers
I had typed up a reply saying that there are more Democrats than Republicans out there but when I looked up a recent poll to get the numbers (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... san_trends" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I saw that such is not the case. The poll results yield estimates that 35.4% of people in the United States are Republicans and 34.0% are Democrats. Since the margin of error (95% confidence interval) is less than one percent the suggestion is that there are slightly more Republicans. Most of the polls have more Dem participants than GOP participants. Rasmussen, as far as I know is the only poll that normalizes the results. Rasmussen also typically is the most accurate.
Anyway nothing like I thought it is. It suggests that if a poll with a reasonably large sample size does include substantially more Democrats than Republicans there is probably a problem. Of course that's assuming that there's no problem with the way in which Rasmussen samples to get the party breakdown. I think that in the real world it's impossible to get a completely sound "scientific" sample. Like for instance you're more likely to be able to reach some people by phone than others and of course you're going to get refusals or people just hanging up on you (non response). But my bet would be they're pretty close because they have a long record of knowing what they're doing and apparently being able to adjust to that.

I just want to hold people accountable for their bullshit prognostications and predictions. Like your head and shoulders patterns, AZGriz's confidence that McCain would win in 2008, Col Hogan's belief in the collapse of the stock market last summer, dbackjohn's prediction that NAU would finish in the top 10 a couple of years ago and App would not, etc.

Romney has his work cut out for him in November. It's closer than I thought it would be at this point in time but Mitt's going to need some serious swings to win.

Re: Americans to Conks, Move ON Losers
You are one truly stupid motherfucker. The stock market did decline precipitously last summer. The S&P 500 went from 1360 in April of '11 to 1120 by the end of August. That decline immediately followed a head & shoulders pattern formation from Feb. '11 to July '11. The right shoulder was also a double-top pattern which is just as ominous as a head & shoulders pattern.Skjellyfetti wrote:Avatar bet?CitadelGrad wrote:
