Smartest Conk in the Room

Post by CID1990 »

Chizzang- the Republican Party will never be simply about less government and staying out of people's lives, because there are too many low information voters to pander to, as the Democrats do so well.

Unfortunately, we are being out-bred and out-immigrated by the moocher class to the point that the conservatives of 50 years from now will look like the Green Party of today.

As I have said more than once - if there was a Goldwater Republican running for ANY office
I would VOTE REPUBLICAN

if the Party today wasn't Anti-Abortion
I would vote Republican if they were not Anti-Science
I would Vote Republican if they we're ANTI-Gay

If the Republican Party pulled it's head out of it's ass it would NEVER lose an election (ever)
Just be what it claims to be - Less government and out of peoples social lives

So I'm stuck with the socially relevant Democrats
who are Fucking retarded other than social issues - as we've seen over and over
So, you'd rather put retards in office that will spend us into oblivion and literally give away the farm than someone who might offend your sensitive side? When have you ever seen a party's 'social' agenda become federal law (particularly a CONSERVATIVE social agenda)...we have been moving (governmentally speaking) to the left consistently for the past 100 years...worrying about the social aspect of government is like fiddling while Rome burns...we can go down in flames as a country proudly claiming "well, we may be done as a country, but by God at least we didn't let them pray in school!!!"

Seriously, the short-sightedness of that mindset is truly frightening. :coffee:
Are you people paying attention - because - this is how you shoot somebody down right here
Very enjoyable AZ that is quality work
I still think you're an insufferable ass, but I gotta give you proper respect for that post

But here's where I'm coming from
Fat old men 3 times divorced and of which probably half have been acquitted on adultery charges shouldn't be writing legislation on women's bodies (Not since 1476 in the dark ages anyway) that is between a woman and her doctor - period - and the religious right can go fuck themselves back into the witch hunt days

second:
Science is not our enemy - it's our friend - Evolution is observable and now over 150 years old
We're regressing - literally getting stupider by the week in this country
Even the FUCKING POPE says the Bible and Evolution are not mutually exclusive
When the Pope in more Liberal than the Christians in this country - we're DOOMED

Third:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..!!!
This is NOT a Christian Nation - It's a Free Republic - that Respects NO religion
and since the 1950's McCarthy era fright fest we added God to everything and now we've got idiots who attribute those God words to Jefferson and Franklin - who specifically did NOT

Fourth
Oh look the OLD TESTAMENT says laying down with a man is bad
and now we've got an ANTI-GAY ANTI-Homosexual fervor whipped up to a frenzy
When gay appears in nature (Creationism Uh Oh God put gays in, now what dumb asses..?)
The old testament also says we need to kill women who aren't virgins when they get married
and a bunch of other stuff that's too stupid to even remember
But the Bible has become The second book of the Republican party right behind Ronald Reagan's Diary

Again, NONE of those issues will matter a hill of beans when we as a country are completely bankrupted (both morally and financially) and we're begging China not to call our notes. Perhaps we ought to find and elect politicans with the ability to keep their eye on the ball that really matters (read: tea-party types concerned primarily about the financial stability and viability of the nation, long-term).

And do you HONESTLY believe we're "whipped up into an anti-gay, anti-homosexual frenzy"? That is fucking comical....NEVER, EVER in the history of the United States, has it been so fashionable to be gay. As I said, we've been moving to the left at an ever increasing rate from a moral perspective for the past 100 years...the evolution of acceptance of gays is just a small piece of that. Seriously, those are all absolute non-issues for the vast majority of republican voters. That's why most Republican candidates ignore those issues for the most part once elected (and the ones that don't, i.e., the doucebag governor of Texas, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, etc) never GET elected to anything meaningful outside of their little pocket of influence.

Excellent - you're pretty much the GOLD Standard of debaters (but still insufferable)
And I completely see your point and in more ways than I'm willing to admit I agree with you
But I have some unpopular opinions about "The Financial crisis"
Mostly revolving around the notion that Money is actually meaningless
It's a concept - it's actually not that important when the entire balance of the world as we know it come into play
We will NEVER have to make good on any of it - if we so choose - and that's the dirty little secret
Sure everybody in the global financial leadership positions has to pretend they're urgently addressing Greece etc. etc.
Or any other highly visible flaw in the ointment

I could go on but as a "banker" you're well aware of the bullshit that is digital zeros - where there weren't any before - oh look more zero's... Add a zero to that digital billion and what do you get..? 10 billion..?

Whatever...

You are right in that we are moving left, and will continue to, at least on some issues. I think the sad part of that equation is that we used to be world leaders. Now, we're followers.

I don't have the polling data but my bet would be the majority think the Separation of Church and State thing has been taken too far. I hate even using the term since it's not in the Constitution. But that's the term used.

I'd bet that if you were to do a poll to find out if...say...the majority of Americans favored having the Federal government tell a local community that they can't have a prayer read over their PA system prior to a high school football game the majority would say "no." And I think it would be a fairly strong majority.

I even think that an overwhelming majority would say that prayer should be allowed in public schools.

I suspect the majorities would be even stronger if you could sit down with the and take them through the language of the First Amendment to see what it actually says, and point out that all it does is prohibit the Congress of the United States from making a law with respect to the establishment of religion. Nothing at all about a broad "Separation of Church and State."

On this issue, thanks to the Judiciary, what we now have in the United States is a tyranny of the minority.
Oh for Jeebus sake...let me help you out here.

A majority of Americans support the ability to freely practice religion. A majority of Americans support the notion that the laws of other religions should not impose upon their own rights. But a majority of Republicans believe this is a "christian nation".

Even Z is willing to admit that we have been moving left on social issues. The nation is "evolving" toward a more "progressive" social character and that plain and simply frightens the shit out of the bitter and vocal religious right minority that still dictates Republican party social platforms. One could say it suffers at the tyranny of a minority.

Now, let me help YOU out here: It's not a majority of REPUBLICANS that believe this is a Christian Nation. It's a majority of AMERICANS.
The United States remains a predominantly Christian nation, with 78% of all adults identifying with a Christian faith, and more than 9 in 10 of those who have a religious identity identifying as Christians. [M]ore than 9 in 10 Americans say they believe in God, and … 8 in 10 say religion is a very or fairly important part of their lives.
If it were so easy to dismiss them as crazy Republicans, we'd never lose an election with those kind of numbers. :dunce:

For my next trick, I'm gonna search the posts made by some dude named Cleets. I wonder what his views are on Bush era spending and economics.

Actually since the Wall Street fraud and Bank scams basically proved what had been long (long) suspected...
Yeah I kinda don't buy the "Economy" thing anymore

Literally global accounts can be "erased" or "adjusted" by tapping a few keys and entire nations debt structure changes in a single keyboard entry... when all of Europe's top ten banks like Deutsche Bank AG can subtract a few zero's on a global account and "ta da" everything is fine - at that point - aren't they just admitting it's Not Real..? Only to be followed by Banco Santander S.A. "adjusting the debt value" on Portugal without even holding a meeting, just a drag and drop adjustment and Viola' ratios are now magically different...

And of course our 12 federal reserve banks are all completely aligned with the European banks
It's a game - it's not real

Baldy the paragon of open mindedness...

I am 100% FOR a government that stays out of personal lives and strives to be smaller and more efficient
Which 40 years ago would have made me a Republican
Today sadly (I'm told) I'm a Libertarian

To me - social issues are more important than economic ones - I believe economics is pretty much smoke and mirrors
and money is a concept that teeters on faith
as has been proven again and again / zeros can be added or subtracted on a whim
Too many hidden hands - I don't buy much of it...

So I'm basically "stuck" with being a Democrat / which is fun until I find something else
I understand where you're coming from so I have to ask what exactly has Obama done while in office that would appeal to a social liberal? Patriot Act? Still in place. Gay marriage? Took awhile but finally waffled back to an earlier position. He talks the talk but I don't see him walking the walk enough. Is it simply because at least he isn't making things worse like the other guy probably will?
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - UNI88

I'm more open minded than you ever will be.

....and to expand on bulldog's post about you and your "evolving" views on spending and economics. One quick search of your posts revealed much rancor about Bush's spending and how it was so critical at that time. Compare that to your "smoke and mirrors" view now that there is a Donk in the White House is quite comical.

For my next trick, I'm gonna search the posts made by some dude named Cleets. I wonder what his views are on Bush era spending and economics.
When did I say I was Okay with Obama's spending..?
He's out of control
I would simply like our country not to devolve back to the dark ages - and spend less
Can I get that..?
