Not that it's any of your business, 93, but I get some VERY limited health care for free through the VA. If I had the cash for FULL coverage, I'd be paying through the nose for COBRA. I couldn't afford it, so I let it drop. I'll get coverage deducted from my paycheck again whenever I get my next F/T job.93henfan wrote:Hey SuperHornet, how much do you pay for your healthcare?
I wonder why you're asking for the ZILLIONTH time, though. That dumb question has been asked of me before. Don't you pay attention?

I guess I'll have to learn, grizza. I thought there were only two trolls on the poli boards, and they were from the midwest. I guess I have someone to add to the list now....

If you are EC(b) or from Iowa you are a troll. Nothing more, nothing less.

I get your sentiment there, grizza, but I wasn't referring to clenz as the troll of the poli boards. I was thinking more in terms of a pair of board-famous brothers....

1. You struggle to receive adequate health care.
2. What care you do receive is free, on the taxpayers dime.
3. You oppose legislation that would provide assistance to those struggling to receive adequate health care who are not eligible for the taxpayer-funded care you receive for free.
Makes a lot of sense.

Had to ask my wife last night since we get insurance through her (she's a public school elementary teacher). $160/month for her plan, which has a $10 co/pay. It's billed as a cadillac plan by many taxpayers in her district who are now backing the school board in negotiations and they'll work under a frozen contract (no changes to anything) probably for years now as they wrestle at the negotiation table. It is a very generous benefit package and southeastern PA is the mecca for public school educators in terms of compensation packages.

Here's what I don't understand. Why don't you have a FT job? I'm being serious. My wifes cousin has 3 MAs and is working on a PhD. She house sits for a living and constantly complains about school loans. I really just want to slap her silly, but I usually just walk away.Ibanez wrote:andy7171 wrote: Here's what I don't understand. Why don't you have a FT job? The gov't should stop loaning money at a certain point. 3 MAs? My friend just finished his MA in Sports Managament. He spent 1 month looking for ajob and now wants to return for a Ph.d. I was honest and told him that was a dumb idea. DUMB. He didn't talk to me for a few weeks but he's come around to my reasoning.andy7171 wrote:I'm being serious. I pay just over 800 per month with a 3000 deductable for a family of 4.
Health insurance is nuts. Im sure a lot of my premium is others using the health care system without insurance.

As a federal employee you can't forget the 70-80% of your policy that is picked up by your employer. Otherwise known as us, the taxpayers.93henfan wrote: $3,424.98 per year for BCBS Basic plus a sizeable copay for doctor visits and way too much for prescriptions. And you?

A lot of employers kick in more than my employer does. Because my employer is the gubmint I take heat for it. It's not like my paycheck is welfare. I provide a service for my wages. Unlike many gubmint employees, I show up early, stay late, and don't cry for OT. I am the exception. Don't get me wrong, we have some shitheads, but most of them are baby boomers that just need to fucking retire, but they can't because they took $50k loans on their now upside down homes.TheDancinMonarch wrote:As a federal employee you can't forget the 70-80% of your policy that is picked up by your employer.
