I would love them in.

I will be following Dartmouth Football much closer now - my old boss (from way back)'s son signed with Dartmouth, will be a Freshman next fall.

Definitely would love them in, I've got a friend who's in grad school at Harvard... he calls to talk trash about how good Haaaaaaaaarvards team is and how they could smoke out UGA   . I think him and I are in the same boat though as JMU grads, we'd love for JMU to have the chance to pound out some Crimson come playoff time.

You guys give the Ivy's too much credit.

The Ivy teams of late would be in the exact same place as the PL teams - trouble winning first round games.

Add playoff access and they would get better, but right now Ivy's are no better than PL. I don't understand why people get that impression?

Legend, reputation is all it is, danefan.

I argued that point many times last year as to why I didn't rank any IVY League teams.

The only other Ivy that would probably support post-season play is Princeton. Princeton and Dartmouth alone won't carry the day. Harvard and Yale probably wouldn't support it. That means Cornell, Columbia, Penn and Brown would all have to be on board for it to get serious consideration. Not sure how likely that is.

I would think Penn would be on board as well.

If the Ivies still have their 10 game season limit...I would think it's going to be a massive shift in thinking for them to take part in the playoffs...

Unless the Ivies get an autobid, which is not out of the question with the playoff growth, then to get 8 counters (about what a playoff bearth needs) would require quite the season...

And it will take a little more flexibility on the some of the Ivies part...Harvard, for example, has refused to come to Amherst, which is why UMass stopped playing them in 1988...

I hope it does happen...but I think it's a long way off...thank goodness the discussion has started, again...

What percentage of the vote of the Council of Ivy League Presidents is required to make the change? :?:

Tim Murphy, unfortunately, does not seem to be agitating for the playoff move. And Harvard's president doesn't seem to be a big athletic supporter...
