Gerrymandering

Post by 89Hen »

Proud to be a Marylander...

https://mdpetitions.com/redistricting/read_the_bill/
Federal justices who heard the case against the map: ‘took particular note of the 3rd District, represented by Rep. John Sarbanes. Niemeyer wrote that its shape makes the original Massachusetts map that gave gerrymandering its name look "tame by comparison." "This is more reminiscent of a broken-winged pterodactyl, lying prostrate across the center of the state," Niemeyer wrote.

That one might take the cake.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - UNI88

To call THAT a "screwed up district" is being MUCH too generous....

I remember when 89 "didn't dislike" and "had no real problem with" O'Malley during his first term.

I'm not saying I never said that, but I definitely didn't vote for him, and that would have only been after maybe a month.

Life is simple out there. The congressional districts match perfectly with the state boundary.

Don't forget, we don't have to spend hours on a damn bridge, pay tolls, deal with geese....well, the geese problem is taken care of by hunting.

You just need to spend hours driving to your next door neighbor. We get it, lots of open space out there.

Iowa has more than one district, unlike these cool states :thumb: :

The other elephant in the room is that Iowa only has white people, so there's no reason to gerrymander. They just divide it up into the white people in that corner, the white people in that corner, etc...

I find that HIGHLY offensive, 93. There are ONLY white people in Iowa?

That is complete and utter HOGWASH.

I'm sorry. Only 96% according to the 2000 census. You are so right. Iowa is a true melting pot. :dunce:

So long as a close African-American shipmate and friend of mine lives in Iowa, I will object to that racist trash.
