I thought this whole "occupy" thing was just homeless people and college students pretending to be outraged - or - perhaps indeed outraged but not sure why..?
The old:
Steal $2,000 dollars go to jail for 5 years
Steal $2,000,000,000 dollars walk away

Why does this bother people..?

I think it was about a large collection of gripes, sort of like the Tea Party. Hard to tell what people are for/against when their laundry lists are so long.

That said, one of their gripes we need to avoid like the plague, and that's putting student loans on the public nickel.

To be fair though, colleges rip students off like no other. No college should be worth $60,000+ per year.

And yet people freely decide to go to them...building up debt freely...then want to protest the debt and have people who already paid their college debts pick up the tab...

Im not saying colleges are not grossly overpriced. Im just saying that the taxpayers already pay for 12 years of crappy education for every kid in this country. We dont need to tack on 6 years of college to the public bill, particularly at the going rates.

And yet, those educations provide a huge economic boost over the course of their careers in the form of skilled labor and productivity. It's almost like an investment that gets paid back.

It's like public investment in an investment bank so that the bank, or the entire economy doesn't collapse. That money gets paid back too. :thumb: :coffee:

I understand the joke, but on the serious side, there is a limit as to how much college for how many (and specifically what kind of college education) really helps the economy. A nation 100% full of 4 year, college educated English majors will make conversations much more interesting, but doesn't necessarily translate into economic skilled labor and productivity. Kinda like home ownership - sure, the idea of everyone having their own house sounds great, but if you need to bend a lot of rules to get there, is it really that great that you did it?

Who's causing the "violence" though? There are Police Provocateurs put into all these protests, many of them are causing violence as an excuse to crack down:

Police provocateurs at Occupy LA:

Police provocateurs at the G20

Police provocateurs during Spanish Austerity protests:

This ENTIRE group of people are undercover cops, many of them probably provocateurs:
