SOCON Cancels Media Day

Post by Col Hogan »

Citing the current economic situation, the Southern Conference has decided to cancel media-day for the up-coming football season...
Like most everyone, the Southern Conference is reacting to the tight financial times capturing the nation’s attention. The league announced several cost-saving efforts that include the elimination of the preseason media days that normally would be held before the 2009 football season and the 2009-10 basketball season. Also, the SoCon will not print media guides and will cutback on staff travel to games.

Oooohhhh... :o

So they'll only publish the media guides as downloadable .pdf's?

Did they figure that one out on their own, or hire a consultant.

Considering we're talking about the SoCon here, I'm sure that several individual think tanks were involved in the cost-savings initiative. I'm sure that everyone was looking forward to visiting Birmingham during August, so this is a big kick in the crotch for all the humidity-loving fans of SoCon schools.
