Media Double Standard?

Post by SuperHornet »

Blogger alleges a double standard regarding coverage of campaign-related books. Dude published a book during the 2000 campaign alleging W had been picked up for coke during the early '70s. It got BIG airplay (outside of the NYT, anyway), until it came out that the author was a convicted felon; then the book was pulled from shelves. It seems that the guy made it up. He later offed himself.

Fast forward to now. A book about President Obama, particularly the hush money sent to his pastor, is apparently a national best seller, yet the media won't touch it. The Obama camp says there's no truth to it despite recorded interviews with Wright. The media doesn't want it because it uses "anonymous, sensational, unverified" data. Yet not too long ago, such material was all the rage.

What gives?

Could be a double standard. It could also be that the media learned a lesson from the book about Bush and didn't want to make the same mistake twice. :twocents:
