Nobody gets a bailout. Unemployment insurance stops now. Gotta get the public off the public teat. But I digress. Don't think Kuttner, Stiglitz and Krugman agree with that. :roll:
I agree with that too. Although I would point out that much of the unemployment problem now is related to cuts in state and local governments.

He got about 52% of votes in Sunday's run-off, according to early projections, against 48% for centre-right incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.

Mr Sarkozy has admitted defeat, saying: "Francois Hollande is the president of France and he must be respected."

Analysts say the vote has wide implications for the whole eurozone. Mr Hollande has vowed to rework a deal on government debt in member countries.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. :coffee:

There you go again, Jimmy. Let GM and Citigroup fail next time. Just don't touch my Social Security, my local post office, or my farm subsidy.
LOL you call my post naive and then you say this. GM is now the #1 automaker in the world and has paid back its bailout money. Swing and miss. Next on the chopping block is citigroup, and if you had your way, AIG was next. Lets see here, let the dominoes start falling and watch what happens I guess? There wouldn't have been a recession if those two giants went bankrupt. There would have been a world wide depression. :ohno:
WRONG! GM and GM's former financing arm GMAC (now Ally Financial) haven't come close to replaying their bailout $.

Updated as of May 9:

GM was givem 51 billion, and only 23 billion + 694 million revenue has been returned to the taxpayer.
GMAC was given 16 billion, and only 3 billion + 3 billion revenue has been returned to the taxpayer.

Between the 2 the taxpayers are still 37 billion in the hole.
http://projects.propublica.org/bailout/list" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

GM and GMAC will likely NEVER pay back all of their bailout $.

Meanwhile, conks everywhere continue to trumpet high unemployment. :coffee:

Well, like Greece, there does come a time when you've borrowed and spent so much that you just can't do it anymore. California might be reaching that point now.

yea my bad. Apparently the article I read was for the new GM only. Didn't mention anything about the other two older companies. I'll do my due diligence next time. In other words, I said a half truth. :thumb:
