Romney 50%, Obama 43%
"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney earning 50% of the vote and President Obama attracting 43% support. Four percent (4%) would vote for a third party candidate, while another three percent (3%) are undecided.
Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).
This is the first time Romney has reached the 50% level of support and is his largest lead ever over the president. It comes a week after a disappointing jobs report that raised new questions about the state of the economy. See tracking history.
Thirty-seven percent (37%) give the president good or excellent marks for his handling of the economy. Forty-eight percent (48%) say he’s doing a poor job. Consumer confidence has slipped four points since last week’s government report on job creation and unemployment. The number who believe their personal finances are getting better slipped from 30% a week ago to 28% today. The number who fear their finances are getting worse increased from 43% before the jobs report to 47% today........................................................................................"

AP and Reuters are a poll of the general population, including unregistered & unlikely voters. Any poll that includes unregistered & unlikely voters is going to skew high donkkalm wrote:AP and Reuters have Obama up 8 and 7.

Rasmussen is registered, likely voters, and has the best track record in recent Presidential elections. Fordham Univ study of 23 polls after the 08' election had Rasmussen on top. Believe that was the case for 04' too.

The only way Rasmussen skews right is that registered & likely voters skew right of the general population.

Saw an analysis yesterday that paints a pretty bleak picture for Romney...Obama only needs to win Ohio and Florida and all the obvious states and he's reelected.....it's an uphill battle for Romney no matter what the popular vote says.

Re: Romney 50%, Obama 43%
Obama will win because he has more charisma, sounds better when speaking, and is more telegenic. I would love to be wrong but I think you can pretty much predict who is going to win a Presidential election in the United States using those factors if either candidate has a clear advantage in all three. Well, you've got to have money too but Obama's going to have the advantage there as well.

Likely voter models become more and more accurate the closer to the election you get.BDKJMU wrote:

That Fordham survey looks at a single poll... the FINAL poll... right before the election.... when likely voter models mean a whole lot more.
Edit: It's also a complete joke that Rasmussen only gives access to his crosstabs to "platinum members." What a fucking joke.
I have an open bet with anyone that wants to wager straight up on the 2012 election winner. You seem pretty confident that Romney legitimately has a 7 point national lead. It's statistically almost impossible to win the popular vote by that much and not win the electoral college. If you are confident that this poll has meaning on the election in November, feel free to take me up on the offer. JMU hat vs. App hat?

Romney has zero shot to win with the redneck bible beaters. His only chance was to lock up the south, but no way does the average NASCAR fan go vote for a mormon
