I don't think Queen Amidala is eligible. She's not old enough....

I still think it's funny that President Obama whined that McCain didn't "properly vet" Sarah, yet he chose the most gaffe-prone male politician since Dan Quayle as HIS running mate.

I still buy into the old geographically balanced ticket idea. That kills Christie (NJ) and Rubio (FL) since Romney is at least nominally from MA. Condi's ties to Stanford MIGHT work, but she'll get the typical media treatment of Republican females: declared a wacko on sight. Ryan loses out for lack of name recognition.

My choice would probably be Orrin Hatch. Or, if he wants to take a chance on a new name from the North Central that has potential for making a big splash, Romney could go for Kristi Noem.

Are you serious? Ryan has lacks the name recognition? Who heard of Palin before the VP announcement? Ryan is more known that you think. Hatch? Lets through Count Chocula and Winnie the Pooh in the mix while we are discussing it.

There, by the grace of Rubio, go I because I sure as hell can't vote for Romney.

Any of them would be fine with me.

By the way, dback, do you think Obummer will continue to "evolve" on gay marriage until the first Wednesday in November? Shit, Scranton Joe and half of the cabinet are now declared in favor!

Actually, I think Jindal is in the mix, but he is really low profile in the media's eyes right now. I agree with dback on Condi. I think she would be a good pick, but she conjures up the GWB stuff which is kryptonite right now.

I don't agree with dback's take on Rubio and the Mormon angle, though. I think the media might take a crack at it, but at the end of the day this election is going to be more about the economy than religion, it always is. Add to that the fact that neither Romney nor Rubio come across as, well, Santorum crazy, and I think the magical underpants won't play much of a role.

My pick is down to Jindal and Rubio with Jindal a slight favorite.

These, but I see Rubio as the slight favorite at this time.

Nobody votes for VP, you just want one that won't hurt you. I also think that Romney might worry about being overshadowed by Rubio.

Z knows what can happen when the candidate makes a VP choice that is too slam dunk sure thing brilliant. :coffee:

Obama is too much a coward to come out and support gay marriage, at least until after he doesn't have to run for anything, or it becomes favorable politically to do so.

I think that is a major drawback to Rubio - tea partiers would be trying to knock off President Romney to get Rubio in.

That is why both Clinton and Obama were smart - as much as the right hated/s them, the prospect of President Gore/biden was even worse ;)
