SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Well, it is true that a large chunk of Americans couldn't pinpoint Iraq or Afghanistan on a map if their lives depended on it...

What the hell does that have to do with knowing who we are at war with?
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Hate to say it, but there's a bit of truth in that comic...but not the truth you want.

It is human nature to get numbed to repeated "problems", especially when you feel you can't do anything about it. Obama was supposed to change things...yet we have lost more than twice as many troops in Afghanistan than under Bush. We're sending "advisers" to different parts of Africa, we helped bomb Libya, we're still in Iraq (and lost yet another soldier this year), we're regularly sending ships in to patrol the hot spots around the Persian Gulf, and we're rattling the Syrian cage.

There seems to be a never ending barrage of our troops going into harm's way...but for what? We claim we're helping people gain their freedom (oh, that wan't good enough under Bush, but it's OK under Obama), and yet were are spending billions and billions to defend and strengthen some of the wealthiest and most oppressive kingdoms in the world.

In the meantime, at home, we have more "routine" murders than any other country and our schools are failing at an alarming rate.

Something is seriously wrong with our priorities.

So, yeah, there is a LOT of apathy towards our troops...and it is because were are numbed by the whole process. There hasn't been a great end-game "victory" to stem the tide of stupidity from our political leaders...Obama got Bin Laden and yet we've lost nearly 400 troops since then while nothing has changed in Afghanistan. Change, indeed.

To put it into a perspective that you might appreciate, think about the apathetic Sacramento State football fans..."That's nice, you lost a game to what team this time?"
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

Geography is different from knowing we are at war. Caitlin Upton knew we were at war, could she find Iraq on a map?

Doubtful. :coffee:

Did we ever officially declare war on either country? Didn't Obama tell us our troops are out of Iraq (yet we are still taking casualties), so are we still "at war" over there? Didn't we get Bin Laden...so why are we still in Afghanistan? Are we still at war with Libya? Are we at war with Uganda? Somalia?

We've got troops all over the place...it's getting quite confusing as to who our enemies are. :suspicious:
