Soldiers not allowed to attend Obama's speech
at Bagram Air Base. So I wonder who The One™ is saluting in this pic.

My guess is that soldiers were prohibited from the speech because The One™ feared that one of them might impeach him.Wedgebuster wrote:He will surely be impeached for this.

All soldiers were banned from the speech? On an AF Base in a war zone? WhoTF attended it?

All I know is I see a "Big Red One" in the background. Curious as to why they would have that on the wall in the background at bagram. I haven't been in since 91 so I am sure a lot of shit has changed.CitadelGrad wrote:at Bagram Air Base. So I wonder who The One™ is saluting in this pic.

Again, soldiers were prohibited from attending his speech. I listened to his speech live and can tell you with certainty that there was no audience.dbackjon wrote:JFC - you guys beleive anything Rush tells ya...

Panetta visits Afghanistan: Hundreds of Marines unusually asked to disarm before he speaks
The New York Daily News ^ | March 14, 2012 | Aliyah Shahid
Hundreds of U.S. Marines were ordered by an American sergeant on Wednesday to disarm before entering a tent where Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was set to speak during his trip to Afghanistan. No reason was given and U.S. officials tried to downplay the move. Sgt. Maj. Brandon Hall told more than 200 Marines at Camp Leatherneck that they were to leave their weapons outside.

Re: Soldiers not allowed to attend Obama's speech
nice post...if it had been a month and a half ago. Old news. And the soldiers weren't allowed to take their firearms because the Afghan army personnel couldn't. So Panetta didn't want the Afghans to feel uncomfortable.
-LA TimesA Pentagon official said Maj. Gen. Mark Gurganus, the Marine commander, ordered the Americans to leave their weapons outside because Afghan soldiers were not allowed to be armed.
"We were going to have Afghans leave their weapons outside," he said. "I wanted the Marines to look just like our Afghan partners."
Gurganus explained that the decision to bar weapons was because of Panetta's presence: "I mean, you got one of the most important people in world there."
Afghan soldiers have often been barred from bringing weapons into meetings with senior U.S. officials in the past. But the prohibition has not previously been applied to U.S. troops.]

At 1:30 a.m. local time, in a flight hangar decorated in red, white and blue, Obama addressed more than 1,000 service members.
Let's go back to discussing real issues like Obama banning farm chores.

I'm going to make my boys pull weeds and pick up dog poop on the back 40 this afternoon so that I can do some illegal sport fishing tomorrow. Does that count?Ivytalk wrote:Ahh,... summoned from the beyond ... the arrival of ... Herr Spindoktor...Skjellyfetti wrote:
