Yeah, nice fiction Ayn Randtard. Insurance, oil and banks are some of the most corrupt industries. None of em pay taxes. All rely on massive government handouts or bailouts. One relies on destroying the environment for profit, one is responsible for the world wide economic collapse and the other is the force behind the subject of your stupid fucking thread. All rely on hard working, tax paying up the ass labor, otherwise known as donks.AZGrizFan wrote:Lord knows they probably ARE conk insurance companies. And conk oil companies. And conk banks. The top three oil companies in the United States are ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and Chevron. According to the SEC filings of those companies, as analyzed by Forbes, ExxonMobil’s pretax income in 2010 was $52 billion, from which it paid $21.6 billion in income taxes worldwide, leaving a net income of $30.5 billion. That equals a tax rate of 45 percent, which is 10 percent above the statutory corporate rate of 35 percent.
ConocoPhillips earned $19.8 billion in pretax income in 2010 and it paid $8.3 billion in taxes, leaving $11.4 billion in income. That equals a tax rate of 42 percent. Chevron made $32 billion and then paid $12.9 billion in income taxes, leaving a net income of $19.1 billion, which equals a tax rate of 40 percent.
ExxonMobil’s total tax bill, worldwide, was $89 billion in 2010, comprised mostly of sales and excise taxes. ConocoPhillips, for comparison, paid an additional $16.8 billion in “other taxes” beyond its income taxes, reported Forbes, and Chevron paid an additional $18.2 billion in “other taxes” in 2010.
According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), oil and natural gas companies employ 9.2 million Americans and account for 7.5 percent of GDP. Those companies added about 2 million jobs to the economy between 2204 and 2007. As of 2010, the five largest American oil companies employed a combined 245,390 people.

The welfare that goes to the farmers, keeps them in business to raise food for the nation. It would cost a lot more if the government ran the farms.

For every one of these conk fantasies, I'll find 20 that prove they either aint paying their taxes or they aint paying their share of taxes.
Factor in the environmental and health costs associated with their business, tax loopholes, oil leases for pennies and government subsidies - and they don't pay shit.

You cannot, in any way, shape or form, compare the rampant illegal immigration of today (no matter WHERE it's happening) to the nation-building period of the 1700's and 1800's. It's like apples and oranges.

Well, as much as we may all agree that the current immigration process/laws aren't ideal, it doesn't make what they're doing any less illegal. We can't pick and choose which laws we decide to obey or enforce. At least, we shouldn't. Even though it happens....SDHornet wrote:This.UNI88 wrote:

http://www.iwatchnews.org/2011/11/03/72 ... ding-study" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Five banks that received federal bailout funds during the financial crisis didn't pay income taxes for one or more years between 2008 and 2010, according to an iWatch News analysis of a new study of tax dodgers.
Wells Fargo & Co., Goldman Sachs Group, PNC Financial Services Group, Capital One Financial Inc. and State Street Corp. were among 78 of America’s largest and most profitable corporations that managed to avoid paying income tax in at least one of those years.
Researchers looked at 280 corporations that reported total pretax U.S. profits of $1.4 trillion. The federal corporate tax code “ostensibly requires big corporations to pay a 35 percent corporate income tax rate, on average, the 280 corporations in our study paid only about half that amount.”
The study was released Thursday by nonpartisan advocacy groups Citizens for Tax Justice and the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.
All five financial institutions named were profitable, but still received funds in the form of stock purchases from the Treasury Department’s Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Wells Fargo received the greatest benefit among all 280 companies studied. If the bank were assessed at the usual 35 percent corporate income tax rate, it would have paid the IRS nearly $18 billion, the study said. The banking giant paid no taxes in 2009.

The irony is both sides know they can’t go after this issue because it would reduce the abundance of cheap labor for industries like agribusiness. As much as both sides will talk about the issue it's clear no one will ever do anything to fix the issue because it’s easier to keep the status quo.CID1990 wrote:Agreed.
