Holy Shit: Obama Has Officially LOST it--Ban Farm Kids!!

A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves.

The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land.

Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.”

“Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read, “would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.”

The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.
Oh, and the kicker?? This proposal, if enacted, is expected to generate thousands of new "jobs" within the Department of Labor as new investigators would be required to ensure farms are complying with this regulation.

Donks, I hope you're happy. The Nanny State is almost complete. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

This is yet another bureaucratic boondoggle designed by people who've never really worked a day in their lives to:

a) transfer wealth and power from the individual to the government
b) put family sized small business out of business and give an unfair advantage to large corporations (kinda like what's happened in my industry)
c) pay back corporate political donors
d) create more jobs for government union employees (who vote overwhelmingly democratic)

Obama and his minions would shit their pants if they saw the chores and work I had to do as a kid on my dad's 700+ head hog farm, cemetary, and 100+ head hunting dog kennels. I hated it at the time but now thank God for it every day becasue it was pitching in to support the family and it gave me a backbone and a great work ethic.

This is really dumb. Doubt it will go anywhere.

That being said, the American farmer is not as numerous as he used to be. Maybe someone is thinking they just won't have the lobby.

Coming from a farm kid, I may not have liked all the damn work(at the time), but I did it and it made me a better person. Bucking bales and changing sprinkler pipe in the summer for other ranchers is where I got my spending money for the rest of the school year. (I didn't get paid in money for the work on our farm but I had food and a house! :D )JFC.....this has got to be one of the craziest things I've seen even run up the flag pole. :ohno:

Feds shut down Amish farm for selling fresh milk
http://www.washingtontimes.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ^ | 02-13-2012 | By Stephen Dinan

The FDA has won its two-year fight to shut down an Amish farmer who was selling fresh, raw milk to eager consumers in the Washington region, after a judge this month banned Daniel Allgyer from selling his milk across state lines, and he told his customers he'll shut his farm down altogether.

The decision has enraged Mr. Allgyer's supporters, some of whom have been buying from him for six years and who say the government is interfering with their parental rights to feed their children. But the Food and Drug Administration, which launched a full investigation complete with a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and a straw-purchase sting operation against Mr. Allgyer's Rainbow Acres Farm, near Lancaster, said unpasteurized milk is unsafe and said it was exercising its due authority to stop its sale from one state to another.

Adding to Mr. Allgyer's troubles, Judge Lawrence F. Stengel said if he is found to violate the law again he will have to pay the FDA's costs for investigating and prosecuting him.
His customers are wary of talking publicly, fearing the FDA will come after them.

"I can't believe in 2012 the federal government is raiding Amish farmers at gunpoint all over a basic human right to eat natural food," said one, who asked not to be named but who got weekly shipments of eggs, milk, honey and butter from Rainbow Acres. "In Maryland, they force taxpayers to pay for abortions, but God forbid we want the same milk our grandparents drank."

God, you and your fiends here are stupid fvcks.

Do you azzholes know that farming is one of the most dangerous occupations in America? Have you idiots looked into the dangers of all the things named in the proposed regulations? Did you even ask why, first, you idiots? Never mind that The Daily Caller is a Tucker Carlson Conk jack towel...... Notice, too how they never addressed WHY these reg's are proposed - SAFETY!!! No, the Conk rag presents it as big government oppression

"There are nearly 1.7 million children under 20 years of age living on farms and ranches in the United States. Farm children are often needed and expected to help with chores or handle responsibilities at a young age. Due to this fact, and the nature of farming, they are exposed to potentially dangerous situations much more frequently than children in towns or cities. Here are some startling statis- tics about child safety on the farm:

• An estimated 300 children die each year in farming accidents
• Farm children are twice as likely to die from an accident than their urban counterparts
• An estimated 30,000 children under 20 years of age are injured each year in farming accidents
• If children who visit or work on non-family farms are added the total is estimated to be close to
100,000 injuries
• Nearly 950 farm children suffer some type of permanent disability because of farm accidents an-
nually
• Approximately 90% of the fatalities and injuries occur to male children
• Children under the age of 16 comprise 20% of all farm fatalities

The three primary agents responsible for deaths and injuries to children on the farm are: tractors, farm machinery, and livestock. It is important to realize that children on farms may be exposed to other situations capable of producing health hazards in the future. Some of these exposures are: noise, vibration, pesticides, dangerous gasses, and airborne irritants."

Face it, a DOL bureaucrat knows how to get things done! City kids would be protected from injuries sustained while making a living selling drugs.

Hey Cappy, 200,000 children are injured each year on playgrounds...quick, let Obama know that we need a Department of Play cracking down on play - complete with appointed DOP Czar.

Everyone needs to sit in front of a television set, not too close, of course, with their hands under their thighs.
