Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups in a 32-question survey of religious knowledge by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. On average, Americans got 16 of the 32 questions correct. Atheists and agnostics got an average of 20.9 correct answers. Jews (20.5) and Mormons (20.3). Protestants got 16 correct answers on average, while Catholics got 14.7 questions right.
Someone posted this before, but looking at the questions, I don't remember if these are the same questions are whether they were changed. I got them all right.
I guess I AM smarter than the average atheist...whatever "average" means. We do have some intelligent people of all bents on this board, though. I HAVE heard of this gap between atheists and those of faith before.
FWIW, I was 30/32. I had my usual 50/50-90/10 brain-fart on one (that's a Navy Nuclear Power Program problem), and I just plain blew the other one. I DID get a lucky guess on Maimonides.

Well, I'm an agnostic but after the first few questions I saw that I had absolutely no shot to do well.

You answered 28 of 32 questions correctly for a total score of 88%.
I admit on about a doz I either wasn't 100% sure or was guessing, but only missed 4. Although I consider myself a Christian, I don't regularly go to church, and the last time I did was 20 yrs ago. Don't consider myself very well versed in religious facts or the bible. That's why I am stunned at:

sure about this one?
11. Which of the following best describes Catholic teaching about the bread and wine used for Communion?
You know I'm impressed with you guys. I got the thing about when the Sabbath is wrong right off the bat. I picked Saturday. Then I think two of the next three questions were about Hinduism and Buddhism. Got them both wrong. So I was like 1 of 4. The only one I got right was about Zeus.
I figured if they're going to be asking me about Hinduism and Buddhism and stuff like that there was no point in me taking the test. I was going to crash and burn. About all I know about Hinduism and Buddhism is that they're associated with Asia and I think Hinduism is a pantheistic thing. That's about it.

Highest intelligence distribution among ethnic groups on the planet. Hitler screwed up big time going after them. If he wanted to rule the world he should've exploited what they had to offer. Of course they probably wouldn't have gone for that.

Well if it's any consolation, it does in fact start on Saturday, it was a trick question because in Jewish tradition, the next day starts at sundown, So Friday night=the 6th day=Saturday. I caught it as a trick question, answered it wrong, and simply started over the test because I figured I practically knew it.
30. Missed the Miomedes question and the Great Awakening preacher question. Probably would have missed the Hindu questions if I didn't have an Indian (dot not feathers) friend. (Yes he runs a motel.)
