Griz Coaching Candidates

Post by kalm »

Checked out the thread on egriz and the list so far includes:

Mike Van Diest (Carroll College)
Blaine Bennet (Central Washington)
Dave Dickinson
Joe Glenn
Jerome Sauers
Dan Hawkins
Rick Neuheisel
The Big Human
Paul Wulf
Dennis Erickson
Herm Edwards
Dennis Green

There's also discussion that it will be an interim through the end of next season so they have the opportunity to get their shit together, hire an A.D. and get the right guy from a wider pool of candidates.

So what do the more highly reasonable Griz fans on CS think? What are the top 3?

Really? I thought he was coaching at South Dakota Vermillion. And for the record, I only have one testicle left, so it's numb nut to you. :coffee:

I forgive you for having a bad day and jumping to conclusions, but I posted what others were saying on egriz. :dunce:

Now, now… let's not be too hard on BSB. There's only so many losses a fan can take before he goes to pieces.

My favorites on that list are Dickenson and MVD.

Of course, the mere fact that I mentioned them likely means that NEITHER will even be considered.

;)

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Dickenson wouldn't do it, so that's a moot point.

I'm skeptical on Van Diest. How much does he know about FCS/FBS-caliber recruits? There are also rumors about steroid use floating around—apparently NAIA is rife with that problem.

Of course, we don't even know at this point if there will be a new, non-interim head coach for 2012.

How come Ryan Leaf did not make this list? 8-)

BSB really wants to see Earnest Collins Jr on that list..

I don't ever expect to see UM hiring a HC from a lower division, especially from a lower, lower division so again the MVD option will never be considered for long.

As for the rest of the "candidates" I can only see one being interested, and since his former UM assistants are scattered all over the country these days, I would not expect to see Joe Glenn in the mix either.
