You can't switch enough channels these days to avoid "law firms" going after heart medications, birth control devices, hip replacements, diabetes medicine, and such similar things. The other day, while attaching Judge Judy, I saw an ad by the makers of Pradaxa, a coumadin replacement. Right after it, was an ad from one of these ambulance-chasing outfits looking for people who "suffered" adverse affect from Pradaxa. WTF is going on?

There is nothing so dear to the heart of an attorney than the class action suit. Gather together a large group of "victims". Win a huge settlement where the big hearted attorneys take their 40%, of the whole settlement, with the now "double victims" sharing the remaining 60%. Then the attorney runs for public office saying he/she will now help all of the rest of us. Shakespeare was right!

Certain types of law, like personal injury and product liability, are just other varieties of consumer goods. It was marketing genius for the TV ad manager to put those ads back to back. I'm sure the drug company doesn't see it that way.
