Rev. Graham: Obama seen as 'Son of Islam'

Post by Appaholic »

Rev. Franklin Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham and a prominent evangelical leader in his own right, waded into contentious waters Tuesday when asked for his views on the religious beliefs of President Obama and the GOP hopefuls.

Graham, the CEO and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, told a Morning Joe panel he couldn't say for certain that Obama is a Christian.

“You have to ask him. I cannot answer that question for anybody. All I know is I’m a sinner, and that God has forgiven me of my sins," Graham said. "You have to ask every person. He has said he’s a Christian, so I just have to assume that he is.”

But Graham also said he couldn't "categorically" say Obama wasn't a Muslim, in part, because Islam has gotten a "free pass" under Obama. Graham also said the Muslim world sees Obama as a "son of Islam," because the president's father and grandfather were Muslim.

Yup, ol' Billy Jr said he could not be sure Obama was a Christian, and in fact that he appears to be much more concerned about the Muslims of the world than the Graham Christians down there in the Sudan. :ohno:

Also said Mitt was a Mormon, not a Christian in the sense of what the Christians believe that is.

Saw this live this morning, wondering what kind of shit storm this would start.

I think every candidate should read a transcript of JFK's 1960 speech to a group of Houston ministers to the effect that his decisions as President would not be influenced by the Catholic church, that there were many more important issues than a candidate's religious views, and that religious tolerance should continue to be a hallmark of American liberty. Very ballsy speech for its time that still deserves attention today. :twocents:

IvyTalk and The Cap'n agree. Read in Chris Matthews' book that he walked out of that gathering with something like 84% approval rating when, before, he had the approximate life expectancy of CitDog prancing around in his Confederate shit at the BET Awards.

It all goes to show that this crap is extruded from the anuses of a tiny minority. However, Conks love it in the headlines.

Well lets see- Santorum didn't have a grandaddy that was muslim, daddy that was muslim, lived in a muslim country, and went to a muslim school, then attend a "new black theology" church headed by an American hating so called minister.

So its perfectly reasonable to believe Santorum is a Christian and not be sure about Obama.
