As an unaffiliated conservative, the Republican party is a much bigger disappointment than the Dems....how anyone can consider themselves a "conservative" and still be enticed by the likes of Gingrich and/or Santorum is beyond me....this is 2004 all over again...a president ripe for removal due to poor decision on his watch (2004 = Bush, 2012 = Obama) will instead sail into the WH for another 4 years due to the opposing party's nominee (2004 = Kerry, 2012 = Santorum / Gingrich / Romney)....what a pity....

The sad truth is that I only get stoned about twice a year. Jumping from job to job, I have to be wary of all the drug tests. And, the last two places I worked had random testing.

It's the same sad situation as Larry Craig who lived a lie for years because he was too ashamed to admit to his wife and everyone else what he liked. His culture shamed him into deceit.

People are responsible for their own behavior and choices. Being "shamed" into "deceit" by a particular culture is a ridiculous excuse for any behavior, especially when you make a false commitment to living the rest of your life with another person. Are straight people "shamed" into marrying the wrong person...and if so would you blame society or the individual for their decision?

Is it possible? Yes.
Is it politically feasible in today's environment? Probably not.

You could cut a whole lot of bloat, redundancy, inefficiency, etc. out of our government(s) to be fiscally conservative and still have plenty left over to pay for "Progressive stuff." It would require guts & focus. Unfortunately there are too many special interests feeding at the trough and they would ally with each other to protect the bureaucracy as a whole rather than risk losing their profitable piece of it.
