Well, now I know how Craig Haley does his research for articles... all of the EWU info came straight from our forum.

Good article though.

Portland State website says Nick Green will probably transotion back to playing QB after playing 2 seasons as a safety. But He also has sophmore Josh Milhollin and 2 RS freshmen in Thomas Carter and Max Leffler available. Not sure is any of the kids he signed will RS or play, but I understand Paris Penn is a good prospect

Montana St has a nice incoming QB Austin Barth 6'5" 210 put on a extra 20 lbs and he's the QB of the future.

3 star, 6'2" 185lb recruit out of Texas, Dakota Prukop is the future. :thumb:

He's going to have a hell of a competition with Dakota Prukop if he stays at QB. There is actually more excitement for Barth to move to LB.

Yes I know about him playing both ways in the prep ranks.I still say he's the future QB for MSU.

Here is Cal Poly's QB of the future:

Tanner Trosin, QB, 6-1, 175, Folsom, CA (Folsom HS)
Trosin made the most of his one season as starting quarterback under head coach Kris Richardson at Folsom High School, shattering school, section and state records by completing 360 of 527 passes (68 percent) for 5,185 yards and 49 touchdowns with 17 interceptions en route to Max Preps State Division II Player of the Year honors. He finished No. 3 in the nation in passer ratings and No. 1 in California. Four of his games exceeded the 400-yard mark in passing, including a Northern California record 601-yard performance in a 49-46 victory against Deer Valley when he completed 34 of 49 passes, and he produced seven other 300-yard passing games. Trosin also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in rushing, accumulating 1,179 yards on 215 carries and scoring 20 touchdowns. His totals include five games over the 100-yard mark, including a season-best 167 yards against Jesuit. Trosin's state record 6,364 yards in total offense was No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the state, and his 69 total touchdowns are the second most in state history, behind only fellow Bulldog Dano Graves' 85 in 2010. Folsom posted an 11-3 overall record, finished second in the Delta River League at 4-1 and reached the championship game of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs against Vacaville, won by Vacaville 39-35. Trosin passed for 407 yards and four touchdowns, completing 25 of 41 passes, and rushed for 101 yards and another score in the title game. Trosin played in the Holiday Classic all-star game in December 2011. His postseason honors include MaxPreps Medium Schools All-American Second Team presented by the U.S. Air Force, All-CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section All-American Offensive Player of the Year as chosen by Max Preps, Co-Most Valuable Player of the Delta River League and Sacramento Bee All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior, Trosin was a starter at defensive back and backed up quarterback Dano Graves (now at Air Force). He made 35 tackle (27 solo) and intercepted two passes, returning one 80 yards for a touchdown, and on offense rushed for 219 yards and three scores, completed 14 of 19 passes for 233 yards and two more touchdowns and caught nine passes for 69 yards and a pair of scores. Trosin's father, Tony Trosin, quarterbacked Sacramento State to its last FCS playoff berth in 1988 and his brother, Tyler, is on scholarship at Oregon State as a wide receiver.

Penn is a good one. He gave us an early commitment, which had many holding their breaths when signings came around. Word was that Oregon State was making a late surge towards him. Glad to see he honored it and is coming here. The JC quarterback from California is supposed to be a phenominal thrower, but is unknown whether he will be lost in the pistol or not, where the emphasis is more on running (although Barnum has done a great job incorporating the pass into it).

The QB battle during spring and into fall camp at defending SoCon champ GSU should be interesting and I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned more prominently in the article. Jaybo Shaw's contribution to the GSU program has been grossly unappreciated everywhere outside of Statesboro but the guy led a transitioning program to the semis in back to back years and won the conference outright this past year. The guy had every possible intangible and leadership quality you want and knew the offense like a coach. IMO he has a very bright future in coaching and I hope he stays with the program at least starting out.

I really have no idea how it is going to turn out. There are the two incumbent backups- Jerrick McKinnon (who was switched to defense in the playoffs because of injuries and reminds me of Chaz Williams) and Ezayi Youyoute, both of whom are BIG TIME running threats in the option but neither of whom has shown the ability to run the enitire offense effectively. Then you have rising RS FR Prince McJunkins, who many say will be the man and is seen as a dual threat.

If Youyoute and McJunkins can (pun alert) take the ball and run with it I think McKinnon stays on defense where his pure athletic talent and physique (the guy is a weight room warrior) could possibly lead to a shot on Sundays. IMO that is the ideal scenario.

GSU is going to be pretty solid in 2012 otherwise and the QB position will likely determine if they can duplicate the success and deep playoff runs of the past two seasons. IMO that position battle is one of the biggest stories nationally in this off season.

What type of offense does Portland St run when Jerry Glanville was their it was strictly run-n-shoot?

North Carolina A&T has a intriguing QB prospect in Oluwafemi Bamiro he's 6-5 200 and I hope Coach Broadway uses a QB friendly offense and allows this guy to use his arm as well as his legs.Broadway while at Grambling used a run heavy attack.

Kyle Padron is currently on a visit to EWU Fri/Sat, as per his twitter. Should be interesting to see where he lands, either FCS or FBS and sit a year.

Well, it was called the run-and-shoot, but it was more like run-and-shit (excuse me, but pretty darn accurate). :D

I was thinking the same thing. Not the greatest weekend for a visit. Hopefully they told it's not like that ALL the time. :)

He needs to understand that during summer and early fall, the temps are typically in the 80's and 90's - just like Texas. Unlike Texas, they drop into the 50's at night and there are mountains, trees, and clear water.

I'm guessing they told him. ;)

I think we need to have an idea of who the projected starter is going to be going into Spring camp. Vitto and Adams are different style Qb's, and if by some chance Padron comes, he's very different from those two. I'm really interested to know who's going to be that 4th Qb on the roster.
