It is a religion. A complete leap of faith that Earth just happened to rotate the right way and the primordial soup decided to coalesce perfectly. You have to have faith to believe shit just "magically" happened.Vidav wrote:If only that were a religion.SeattleGriz wrote:

You are talking Creationism, and I am talking Intelligent Design. ID does not say evolution didn't happen, just believe there was and intelligent force to "nudge" things along.Seahawks08 wrote:Yep, the Earth being 6000 years old and women created from a rib is a great alternative!Evolution is the lazy mans belief.

House GOP To Move Forward With Bill Repealing Obama’s Contraception Mandate…
Congressional Republicans aren’t impressed with President Obama’s new policy on contraception and religious institutions.
Leaders on the House Energy and Commerce Committee said they still plan to move a bill that would make further changes to the administration’s mandate.
Obama said Friday that religious institutions like Catholic hospitals and universities will not have to include contraception in their employees’ healthcare plans or notify employees that they can get birth control directly from their insurer instead. But Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) said the policy is still an affront to religious freedom.
“The administration has simply reaffirmed that Congressional action to permanently reverse this mandate is necessary,” Upton said in a statement.
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) also dismissed the White House’s “accommodations,” saying the only solution is full repeal of the requirement that employers cover contraception without a co-pay.

Lets call it what it is. By intelligent force you mean god, period. As for id itself, it never even existed or was even mentioned until the late "80's" or early "90's". The Churcher right was having their asses handed to them on a regular basis and had to come up with some Flim Flannery that would keep god in the equation but also throw in some good old fashioned "science" to try and make it look respectable.SeattleGriz wrote:You are talking Creationism, and I am talking Intelligent Design. It is a form of creationism and a contemporary adaptation of the traditional teleological argument for the existence of God, presented by its advocates as "an evidence-based scientific theory about life's origins" rather than "a religious-based idea". The leading proponents of intelligent design are associated with the Discovery Institute, a politically conservative think tank, and believe the designer to be the Christian God

I have stated in previous threads that I do believe ID might be a different angle to get God added to the equation. Obviously, I believe in God and therefore believe God had some hand in creating life.polsongrizz wrote:Lets call it what it is. By intelligent force you mean god, period. I just find it very interesting how Evolution keeps barking up the same tree and is unwilling to look elsewhere, especially when it's ONLY empirical evidence (fossil record) contradicts the theory's premise of gradual change. In addition, Evolution proponents are king at trying to stifle any other ideas. That makes a complete mockery of the scientific method. A theory welcomes all challenges, for it will bring it that much closer to becoming a law.
Richard Dawkins, who is a key proponent of evolution has gotten his ass handed to him when faced in open dialogue about the huge gaps in the theory. If it was so ironclad, why the difficulty in defending it? Because the ID group is bringing up valid questions that cannot be answered, even with all the efforts over the years to prove evolution.
As to why ID came about, I don't doubt your claim, as we all can agree the 6000 year old Earth belief is lacking in scientific merit.
I honestly don't care what a person believes, for I don't think we will ever know the truth in my lifetime. Mostly on here flipping back the same close mindedness that evolution brings. The evolution debate is very much like that of the global warming community.

You might have missed the link I posted weeks ago in which around 800 scientists (my estimation) signed a petition stating Darwinian Evolution was lacking in creative abilities to justify all our diversity. I am not saying they are all believers in ID, just that they admit the current theory deserves more scrutiny.Cap'n Cat wrote:Seattle,
