Eastwood's Chrysler Ad: Political? Pro-Obama?

Post by AZGrizFan »

Apparently there's quite a buzz out there amont the paranoid that this is somehow a "pro-Obama" ad...what's your take? Looks like a nice, upbeat ad to me....still wouldn't make me buy a POS Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge car or truck, but that's a different thread.

FYI: Karl Rove calls it a pro-Obama ad...Newt Gingrich calls it a pro-America ad. And Eastwood is solidly conservative.

They should have shot the commercial in Detroit...

THE GOOD, THE AD AND THE UGLY thedaily.com ^ | February 7, 2012 | By Luke Jerod Kummer and Erik Hayden

The creative minds behind the ad are in the agency’s Portland, Ore., branch. Aaron Allen designed a poster for the 2008 Obama campaign and Jimm Lasser designed a basketball sneaker called the “Obama Force One,” with an image of the president on the soles and the message “A Black Man Runs and a Nation Is Behind Him.” Lasser displayed the shoe in a 2008 gallery exhibition with the tagline “The Dunk on McCain.”

Eastwood is solidly Republican and has been very critical of Obama. Either he was duped or he doesn't see it as being pro-Obama.

I agree with AZGF: Chrysler makes a POS product, and Clint is a rugged American.

I didn't think it was political at all. I thought it was Patriotic.

Are Bronco and Expandspanod writing Rove's talking points now?

I thought it was pretty boring, but Patriotic. The only part that I thought could be construed as Pro-Obama was the "halftime in America" quote.

Anybody else think it's ironic that a company with 52% ownership by Fiat is so pro-America in their ads?

When anyone talks about how America is getting better and how it needs to keep getting better that means they're pro-Obama? Eastwood was making a kind of halftime speech that coaches usually make to motivate their players. "We may be down now but were not out of it. Dont throw in the towel. We have a history of success built on the foundation of hard work and sacrifice. Its not gonna be easy, but it wasn't easy to get to where we are now. Lets get to it, America" That's how I looked at it.

Pro-America not pro-Obama.

Can't believe that some people want a nation to fail simply because of its leader. :ohno:

Detroit...showing us how it is done?

Are you kidding me?

Detroit is a dying, piece of crap city and it isn't going to turn around anytime soon. And I'd never buy a vehicle made from there.

That could have been a great ad...but instead it speaks to everything that is wrong with this country. :ohno:

The "old" UAW that had teeth contributed mightily to breaking Detroit's back. That's why you had GM's made in Canada and Fords/Chryslers made in Mexico. Toyota, Nissan, VW, Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes, Kia have all found ways to make money manufacturing in the US. BMW locally is adding a $900M addition and announced that they are exporting SUV's out of the US.

The city falling apart is proof positive that liberal ideas run things into the ground. The city the state and the country are all suffering from their undeniable fingerprints.

Not even Clint Eastwood can save them now.

Yeah, SC squeaked by with the Boeing plant in Charleston vs. WA. State. Should have been a no brainer except for this NLRB. :ohno:

They got it through, but it should have been much easier. Heads should have rolled at the NLRB over that cluster event.

The source of the problem wasn't the NLRB. The NLRB was only doing its master's bidding.
