Yep. Dancing on the rooftops at 8.3%. it's like celebrating when gas gets back DOWN to 3 bucks a gallon. America has now been conditioned to think that 8% unemployment is GOOD.

Again, Z. YOU conks really fucked shit up. It's gonna take more that 3 years to fix it. Obama saved the economy and we're headed in the right direction,
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

It's all relative, AZ.

Unemployment in January 1984: 8.0%

Noone was dancing on the rooftops. But, I think there were people happy to see the economy improving. And people happy their president would cruise to victory later that year. :kisswink:

Sadly, you may be right about the reelection thing...but not because the economy is improving. We'll elect a muslim of questionable U.S. citizenship and no real political experieince who openly abused drugs, cavorted with known domestic terrorists and is a product of the most corrupt political machine in the country but I'll be damned if we'll elect a Mormon.

I'd just love for ONE of you Obama supporters to lay out a coherent argument for exactly what he's accomplished that satisfies you that there is no one better to run the country. Answers that are not accepted are:

* He inherited Bush's problems and it's still his fault
* He killed Bin Laden
* He's better than anything the Republicans are offering so he should win by default

I refuse to vote for any democrat for federal office right now and I am not an Obama supporter, but your third rule needs to be re-examined because it is a very legitimate reason. There are many people that would make better alternative, but none of them has a hat in ring (except perhaps Paul if you're in favor of the giant "reset" button).

So 4 more years of deficit spending and debt accumulation like the last 3 is OK? Just trying to get my head around one of the Republicans doing a worse job on that.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not in love with any of the GOP'ers right now either, but we've seen what Obama is capable of with his track record and failure to take blame where it's due.

We are in recession and just like Reagan with his spending record and Bush's no new taxes there are only a few options.
