New jobs are still a good sign and this despite the fact that cities, counties, and states continue to lay off employees.

When Obama was elected in 2008 I assumed he was in great shape to get re-elected because he was going to start when there had been a severe downturn and the cyclical nature of the economy virtually ensured that things would get better during his first term regardless of what he did. Would've thought the same thing regardless of who was becoming President at a time like that.

It is kind of a paradox though. Yes I want the economy to do better but Obama's philosophy would take American farther in the wrong direction. So it would arguably be better for the country in the long run if the economy tanks for a while just before election time so that he is not re-elected and in put into position to do more long term damage.

Suppose you were gifted so that you could see the future under different scenarios. Suppose you were 100% sure that the country would be much better off in the long run if the economy really tanked for the next six 10 months. What would you choose? Would you choose eventual long term ruin for the country in order to avoid economic distress over the next 10 months?

Of course we can't KNOW anything like that with 100% certainty. But the point is that one can want what's best for the country and think that getting Obama out of that position is more important than having a recovery start right now rather than 10 months from now.

I'm hoping that the country tanks around Jan.20, 2013 if a Republican is elected. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

You want what's best for your half-baked ideology.
People use the word "ideology" as though i"ideology" is something bad. Do you know what the first definition of "ideology" is at Merriam Webster's on line dictionary? It's "visionary theorizing ."

For that reason I would not call the world view Obama embraces "ideology." It's too shallow. It's populist, simplistic, egalitarian pap with a hefty dose of looking for someone to blame when one doesn't succeed. And it's more fostering of the "I'm born with the world oweing me" entitlement mentality.

It is amazing to me that, at this point, there is ANYONE out there who can't see that this country took a wrong turn when the decision was made to adopt the idea that the Federal government is responsible for ensuring the well being of every individual. Yet in the hundreds of millions still fail to see it. And Obama wants to go farther down that disasterous road.

1) Every child ever born feels entitled to things

2) No one is born or brought up believing they are owed something by the federal government.

Well conk America led by none other than the biggest shill in the history of extreme political bull shit himself Karl Rove has labeled renown political conservative and big screen icon Clint Eastwood as a voice for Obama for his most excellent two minute Super Bowl ad for Dodge.

This is tragically similar to the labeling of several board moderates here by board rebub partisans as "liberals." If Rove is right about Clint that puts him in damn good company with old wedgebuster here.

Shows that these days common sense is nowhere to be found when grown men jostle like spoiled children for the satisfaction of sitting on the special chair and smirking at everyone else.

Way to go Rove, you just put you and yours further out to sea on your own ice berg.

Um, intelligent consumers of graphs and data recognize the deceit in this one. Look at the minuscule incremental spread in the left axis.

(Note to self, get strokes. At least 10.)
How much do you play? I was playing 50-60 per year but then my kids' baseball and ODU Football has knocked that down to about 15. Handicap has jumped about 4 or 5 strokes. :ohno:
