Long term, Komen dumping PP is a disaster for PP. Yes, Komen has taken a hit on the internet from enraged "supporters" of PP, but that's really going to be it. Komen's donations are up 100% over the last few days and these new, pro-life contributors to Komen will continue to give because they are personally more generous than the "supporters" that Komen has lost. PP has received an initial increase in donations, but this will go away shortly, because these donors gave only to make a point. They are not generally personally generous. PP will rest on its laurel of claiming that donations went up and will ignore that after a pop, and hope everyone ignores that this giving was not sustained long-term.

Komen is a sophisticated charity and studied the consequences of its decision before it did it. Pro-lifers have been withholding support from Komen because of its support for PP, and pro-lifers are personally generous people.

Face it, one of the nation's most sophisticated charities studied the issue, and concluded that it was better off, long term, by dumping PP. Get it? Moreover, once other charities and corporations begin seeing that long-term there is more upside in dumping PP -- and the only negative will be short-term angry chatter on the internet from people who never gave in the first place, claiming that they will never give to you again -- well, PP better get used to this.

But the big problem for PP is in Washington. A Senate Subcommittee is currently investigating PP and auditing it to determine whether federal funds, which cannot be used to provide abortion services, are in fact being used for such services. PP claims otherwise, but everyone knows it is lying and that it is understating its expenses associated with its abortion services. When the investigation is done, the big hammer is going to fall on it and it is going to lose its federal grant money. Then Uncle Mike Bloomberg is going to need to fork over about $500,000,000 a year to "replace" the money lost.

Planned Parenthood has been lying so long it thinks it is immune to the consequences of lying. It was started by a liar, fueled its growth by lying, and now will be killed off ultimately because of its lies. How fitting.

You are blinded by your hatred of PP. While you are right that there will be pro-lifer money flowing in to Komen that wouldn't otherwise... that will hardly offset the damage done. It's not even those who side WITH PP... it's the damage done to their reputation as an "above the political fray" organization that had a level of universal acceptance and support that was the envy of the non-profit community.

By wading in to a controversial subject - and taking a side like that... they've damaged their brand, I suspect irreparably, with this. Then they have the nerve to say that trying to find another home for money that would go for breast cancer screenings is some kind of politically-motivated theocratic "anti-choice" "war on women".
