Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State want fooball
Apparently alot of students and alumni want to bring Titan and 49er football back to Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State, the following is a video clip with a website that is getting more and more support everyday to bring back Cal State Fullerton.
Apparently it wouldnt be a bad decision especially since Cal State Fullerton and Long beach state would definetly be offered and probably would take a position in the Great West for football making it a little easier for every school besides the Dakotas for scheduling. Go to;
(http://www.bringbacktitanfootball.com for cal state fullerton) and
(http://site.bringback49erfootball.com/Home.html for Long Beach State) and show your support!

Title IX fem-nazi's will throw a shit fit of the likes that has never been saw before. I hope it happens, but with Title IX being flawed like it is and the economy this will be really hard to pull off

That would be good and bad for NAU.
Good that we would have two more regional foes.
Bad that it would provide a lot of competition in our main recruiting area.

I think it's a great idea, I hope it happens. Of course, it would not benefit any school on the west coast with regards to recruiting.

Re: Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State want fooball
i dont know about that. cal st fullerton & long beach can bet on poor attendance. for some reason, the market is strange out here, USC is THE FVCKING TEAM here, everyone else [attendance wise] sucks a dick. even ucla doesnt sell out.[to their credit, the rose bowl is a HUGE 90,000 seat stadium.
The only thing that will play to cs fullertons's credit is, there stadium is cool 10,000, and orange county doesnt have ANY college football team. cs long beach will NEVER EVER get that team. they dont have a stadium either. its also HEAVILY urban so building/expanding will be hard to do.
having said that, it would be soooo fvckin nice to bring div 1aa to southern cal, northridge, long beach, uc riverside, & fullerton all drop football & didnt think twice.
uc riverside 8,000-10,000 seat stadium--could easily expand. they have the space & money.
northridge 8,000 stadium, had drawn up expansion plans, but the surrounding area turned it down.
long beach idk if they even have a stadium... heavily urbanized.
fullerton 10,000 stadium, room for expansion only on sidelines.maybe could sqeeze some endzone seating.
the biggest problem will be attendance. southern cal is pretty hard on losing teams.
look at the season attendance ratios.
lakers/clippers-SAME ARENA!!
USC/UCLA
so if those fb teams get out of the blocks with a shitty start[which is hard not to do] u can kiss those mf'ers good bye.

The SoCal people don't care about FCS football. Cal's best shot is to get Pacific and their 30,000 stadium to bring it back. Don't hold your breath.

Texas State would have to leave if they went FBS, but until the moratorium is over, nothing is official.

With those schools definetly no help whatsoever. However i have recently talked with the head of the GWC and we discussed the future of GWC football so about thirty minutes (i think i posted this earlier in the year.) And according to him there are a few Div2 teams that want to move up to division one who have football, so hopefully it will happen soon and we can get an auto bid! Im thinking maybe central washington is a lead canidate.Fresno St. Alum wrote:The SoCal people don't care about FCS football. SUU see if you can get him to say any names or even state. I could probably find out who it is if you get the state.
Other names I have with no facts just board rumors are...
N.Kentucky (No FB)
Bellarmine(KY) (No FB)
UM-St.Louis (No FB)
Tarleton St.(TX)
C.Oklahoma
Arkansas Tech
The football schools would want to be in the SLC

North Alabama and West Georgia want out of the Gulf South and into Div I?
First time I've heard this rumor. Haven't even seen it on the D2 board. I guess I'm blind..
Wouldn't mid seeing Central Washington move up but I think they'll tough it out in D2 and the GNAC. Grand Canyon is starting their football program in 2010 and looks like the BC schools are heading in the direction of D2 as well. That will give them a 7 member FB conference.
West Florida does want to start a FB program but it's totally in the exploratory stages. The move up to D1 is almost for certain.

I don't see why not, both Fullerton and Long Beach have community colleges/JUCOs that both play football, how do they manage to survive around there?

Outgoing prez Don DeRosa can be ignored. For athletics, the school is known as UOP to those that know and care. DeRosa is an ignoramus and deserved to be fired vice being allowed to "retire" for his role in "suspending" the football program. As much as I hate to admit it, a return of UOP football would likely require either Great West membership or independent status, both of which are not savory ideas. The only way that would change would be a restructuring of Big Sky rules because there's no way that UOP's going to downgrade their RPI in MBB/WBB/WVB. That move would also require a transfer of baseball to the WAC and softball to the PCSC, which wouldn't be a good idea, either.Fresno St. Alum wrote:The SoCal people don't care about FCS football. SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

UNA did a study it was on the GSC section of the D-II board about 10 pages long until Brandon deleted it just like he did the W.Georgia one last year. UNA will decide yes or no in 2011, UWG will move up when they finish their stadium, have enough students, moratorium ends. He doesn't like D-I move up talk on his board. How could you not see that thread but see the one on UWF which didn't get near as much trafficW. DeMontague wrote:Fresno St. Alum wrote:The SoCal people don't care about FCS football. Re: Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State want fooball
i was talking to a couple profs at Fullerton when I was out there lecturing in Nov. and we talked about Titan football from a university perspective. Their feeling was that while Orange County could sustain a football team, they would need a "partner" adding football who could serve as a rival, and mentioned Riverside as that possibility.
Both cited the economy as a big hindrance at this point - the also noted that Fullerton despite being a large school, doesn't have as good a campus culture as one might hope. (this could be a solid argument FOR football too...) The other problem is finding scholarship parity for female athletes - while field hockey would be a big step (and is likely) there are still problems finding equity. Unlike many schools that cut baseball to save football - Fullerton, and it's nationally renowned baseball program wouldn't even consider it.

Re: Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State want fooball
Are they looking for a connecting county rivalry? At least was that what was talked about? I feel like they would like less competition. Really you have Major USC/UCLA and then minor USD. They would be a nice middle to pick up a lot of kids. Plus it would be easier to bring in kids compared to the other three(unless they have raised admission standards).

i would agree with that - but their thinking was that they needed a regional rival to draw a crowd and build some hype.
i think some early season squash matches with ucla and the like can help with that - as can a rivalry with Poly (which i am convinced would develop)... but yeah that was their thinking

THATS a great idea, it would be a big boost of attendance, and an interesting rivalry. also ur right about the matchup with poly. good matchups include:TwinTownBisonFan wrote:they would need a "partner" adding football who could serve as a rival, and mentioned Riverside as that possibility.

thats correct and you can attribute that to the surrounding area of orange county and LA county in which both blend seemlessly together. students dont just stay stranded on campus like Cheney & bozeman.. they drift off like Seattle & Sacramento.

Interesting proposal, BF.
As I stated earlier - mixed feelings about these two schools from a NAU perspective
Good - more OOC schools nearby to schedule.
Bad - competition for SoCal talent.

There is a lot of talent in SoCal, and you are right, not a lot of FBS or even FCS choices out there close by.
