You know what I'm talking about.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

Without looking at the stats, I'm guessing they are no worse on the road than the entire Southland has been at home over the last decade. :coffee:

Remember they've only won 2 playoff games away from Missoula in their history. And if they lose this game they'll be 0-3 on the road against the Southland in the playoffs.

It's not over yet though

3 wins away from Missoula.

Two championships and 2008 semi's against JMU.

I think we should play at home then

If you are playing at home, aren't you supposed to win?

Yes but there is no program in FCS that I can think of that has played a substantial number of games and has as much of a dichtomy between home and road performance as Montana does. I'm pretty sure that if someone were to make lists of home playoff records and road playoff records Montana would be way at the top of the list of home playoff records and pretty far down the list of road playoff records.

I WILL say this. I think if Montana played Sam Houston State tomorrow they'd beat them comfortably. It was clear that Montana figured them out after the first quarter. But you only get one shot.

That's why you play the regular season JSO. SHSU earned the home field for tonights game all season long, just like the Griz have done in the past. There have been years like '04 where the Griz got a lucky break with a team like GSU losing & we lucked into home field through the chipper. I don't get what everybody's fascination is with the Griz road record.

When I get time maybe I'll report back to you with what Youngstown State's record in road playoff games was when it was in it's glory time under Jim Tressel. I don't think home field is as important to any other FCS p;rogram in the playoffs as it is to Montana.

I agree JSO. Held the Kats to 3 points in the 2nd half (off a TO inside the 15) which seemed impossible to even think about after the 1st quarter. Some of Montana's play calling made me scratch my head but Sam played their game. Actually, with the Griz only having 4 days to prepare I was impressed they kept them in check for almost 3 quarters.

Not gonna lie, that game is exactly the reason I was rooting for Montana tonight, so that that game wouldn't be the one everyone kept going back to. The Griz made some very good second half adjustments against Flanders but goddam that kid is fast. Well done to the Bearkats and JMU fans will have to continue to hear it.

Honestly JSO,

that statement is just stupid and I get tired of it. Everyone is better at home and there is not one poster here that can say SHSU was not a damn good football team. Yes it goes down as a road loss for Montana but it was a great game between two very good teams and shutting them down for almost 3 quarters is the mark of a solid program. Losing tonight, while it sucks, is no reason to hang your head and say "if it were only in Missoula" although people will not remember how good Sam was, just that Montana lost another road playoff game.
