love or hate the guy, he knew his stuff. I watched him tear Tony Blair a new one on religion at one of the Munk Debates. I guess Richard Dawkins will take the mantle for top atheist now?

Amen. May Hitchens and his family know love, joy and peace. While he was an ardent opposition of Christianity, he was EXACTLY the person needed to question matters.

Rest in peace brother.

Sad news for many reasons.

May God have mercy on his soul.

Rest in peace? He's not "resting" anywhere if he is correct.

I thought about that shortly after I posted it but decided against changing it. I think of it more as an expression that just means "this person is dead and it's sad" than anything else. Same with someone saying bless you after a sneeze, doesn't really mean anything, it's just a habit for most people.

A better headline would have been Christopher Hitchens Dead. According to him, that's all he is.

Same shit will happen you. You'll rot just like the rest of us. Your god and Jesus and heaven don't exist. :thumb:
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

What has he gained by being "right?" On this day, a hallow victory if there ever was one.

I'll remember him in my prayers and ask for mercy, because he might have been wrong, and if he was, he needs our prayers.

I guess he'll need prayers from members of every other belief system the world has ever known. This could take a while.

Joe, he's already gained a life of not believing in utter bullshit, not forking over 10-20% of his income to shyksters and pedophile factories like the catholic church, the freedom from the guilt the church places on people to keep them subservient, not having to go to fucking church every god damned Sunday, not abusing his children by forcing dangerous dogma on them from birth......and so on.

He won long before today. :thumb:

BTW, why would he need your prayers? From what I know of him, he should be towards the front of the line at the gates. His primary beef, and that of Jesus' too, was organized religion - the circuses created by tyrants and politicians, (like the catholic church) who abused jesus' life in order to fleece people.

Bet Hitch and JC are drinking scotches and chain smoking Chesterfields right now.
