Maybe, but maybe not. When was the last time we had #1 vs #2 in our NC game?
Oregon-Auburn, Alabama-Texas, Texas-USC, Ohio State-Miami, USC-Oklahoma, LSU-Ohio State, Ohio State-Florida, etc.

Baylor has their best season pretty much ever, and get overlooked by the BCS who is obligated to take an autobided West Virginia team and are saddled instead with Washington. Voters decide they want TCU nowhere near the top-16 they need to get bidded, and end up against the WAC's best in La Tech. Similarly, the network decide they want nothing to do with them or the game, spending the modicum of time merely mentioning it. The number of ranked vs. unranked bowls, of worthwhile matchups, is laughable.

Watching the ESPN Bowl Selection Special just underlines again how inherently superior the Football Championship Subdivision is in so many ways, and underscores the deficiency of the sport as governed at the highest level.
Just playing Devil's Advocate here...(Although I truthfully don't love the playoffs at any level, really.)

-Yeah but Boise knows what their standard is...don't go undefeated...don't go to the BCS.
-Southern Miss....lost to a terrible UAB team...case closed. Oklahoma State got the shaft for losing to team better than UAB...and you're complaining about Southern Miss?
-Baylor did have the best season ever, but you can't reward everybody....which brings me to my next point- You complain about ranked v. unranked bowls. 25 teams are ranked. The other 75+ are not. Odds are pretty good that you'll play an unranked team in the bowl, whether you are ranked or not.
I guess VaTech and Georgia know their standard as well. Go ahead and schedule Boise because even when you lose to them and finish with a worse record you'll still get a bette bowl. :coffee:

Wait how is Michigan deserving? They like Virgina Tech should be behind Boise and Kansas St. Isn't that the point of the BCS rankings? Plus Michigan St beat them, finished ahead of them in conference and played in the conference championship. So losing the conference championship is punishment to fall behind Michigan? Fucking joke.

I'm not going to watch LSU/Alabama. I think it was already played and it was LSU 9-6.

Unfortunately, FCS fans do not attend their playoff games well even when they host them. App State, GSU pretty much all home teams did not sellout and seldom do. The Championship game isn't a sellout. So, though we think our playoff scheme is superior, most of our fans couldn't care less. Well except for ODU fans. A playoff game at Ballard Stadium would be sold out. But it looks like we will soon be moving over to that bowl side everyone here detests. Bourbon Street better get ready for Big Blue , lol.....

I do agree that the LSU/BAMA game is a joke. Oklahoma State should have been given the invite.

The Michigan/Michigan State games bowl selections are not that big a deal - I could make a case for either team based on overall season performance - being in a BCs conference that is probably the 3rd strongest (behind SEC and BIG 12), the loser of the conference championship game was at risk of missing a BCS bid. The bad losses to ND and Nebraska hurt State more than the win over Michigan helped them. I am a State fan, but I think the end result was expected and reasonably fair.

That said - the BCS system blows and yes, K State and Boise got absolutely screwed

Indeed lots of sense...

still... whether Oklahoma State or Alabama got to the National Championship game doesn't make a difference. the whole system is bullsh** anyways... totally biased. Preseason polls have such a big influence on the BCS and that is the reason why the SEC has dominated the BCS for the past years.

Any Championship game that is not decided on the field is b.s. The fairest way to do this is a Playoff system as we all said but money rules DI-A football...

Is not that people don't care about the playoffs... Is that the FCS has much less talent than FBS. The FCS bearly gets promoted and due to the difference in talent it obviously draws less fans. But I believe a playoff system at the FBS level would be extremely successful.

I agree with that and I am also a Bama fan. I think I'm the only Alabama fan that would agree with that. Everyone down here is acting all excited and shit again and thinking Alabama is going to win, just like last time. It's just like they already played... Alabama lost.. Stfu.

It should definitely be Oklamhoma State vs LSU.

that's just beautiful mate. Really gorgeous. You could really end up with an Arkansas State or La Tech champion! And they'd get to really prove it too: For La Tech to win the title, they'd need to beat West Virgina, LSU, Kansas State, and Oregon (?), and Alabama (?) - meaning they'd probably have earned it. Arkansas State would have a path to the title that could in clukde So Miss, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Alabama, and LSU, also not an easy set of games, each of which would be on the road!

Looking at the above makes me think playoff opponents haven't really sat down and just looked at a 8, 10, 12, 16, or 20 team playoff bracket and really played it out. With the seedings you've put together, we're looking at some ridiculous games! Immagine Bama-Michigan, Boise-Ok State, or LSU-KSt in the elite eight! The chance for an LSU-Oregon rematch for a spot in the title game may not be appealing, but considering Oregon would have to rematch against Stanford (assuming they beat Va Tech, which IMO is a safe one [but then, the beauty of it is, they'd actually be playing the games rather than just guessing who they thought would win!]) just to play LSU for a shot at the... Bama-Boise State winner? Sitting down and drawing out a hypothetical playoff bracket for FBS College Football is really the most convincing way i can think of to sway a non-believer on the issue.
LONG LIVE THE NCAC! LONG LIVE SAN FRANCISCO STATE FOOTBALL!
