How does McSurdy win defensive POY without even being the best at his position? :?

Bump is the best LB in the conference, just look at the stats. He lead the conference in tackles and was 5th in the nation. How he didn't make 1st team all-conference is bull-shit. The conference hates UNC.

Your guy is POY because he was the best defensive player on the best defensive team in the conference. Individually Bump is better though. Big Sky will have two more years of seeing number 56 for UNC. :coffee: :coffee:

Stepping out of my usual objectivity and speaking as a Portland State fan, I think you need to put a asterisk on the best running back. McCaffrey was on his way to truly an outstanding year before his injury at Montana. At the halfway point, that was the only thing that was going to slow him up.

Unfortunate as that was, injuries are part of the game.

I agree with McSurdy being defensive MVP, but that was about more than just playing the linebacker position. It was a tough call, but I guess you could argue defensive leadership is about more than the specific position the guy plays. I suppose I was kind of going by precedent: MVP awards tend to have leadership as a major factor, but individual position awards/Pro Bowl/etc. don't as much.

Bumpas definitely had the best stats, & NoCo's run defense was actually pretty solid (second behind Montana in ypc, despite a suspect D-Line).

McCaffrey was the best on a per game basis, but he only played 5 games. That just wasn't enough…

Bauman also had a monster year despite an iffy O-Line.

It's still unbelievable how Bump did NOT make 1st all-conference. Well, it is believable because the Big Sky hates UNC.

If the Big Sky Conference really hated UNC they would kick them out. Grow up and quit being a big baby. Go buy a bottle and refrain from putting a nipple on it and drink like a man. All you ever do is bitch and bitch. Hope one of these days your balls will drop. Jebus you are a whiney little gremlin that won't man up.

Yeah, they hate you so much that they decided to let you into the conference, when they had no obligation to do so. Why is Big Sky in your goddamn name if you hate it?

What is it with your posts about me and why do they always have something to do with alcohol? I seriously don't get it.

You can go and look back at my 800 - some posts and find nothing of the sort. I drink all the time. I just downed a nice Stone IPA. You're weird.

I have you confused with another UNC fan. Please take my most sincere apology.

Same reason McKnight didn't even get all-conference. :dunce:
Based on the years Brown for PSU and Cunningham for MSU had, I think the conference got that right.

McKnight ended up with better stats than Cunningham.

You could also argue Mike Jarrett for second team, though his leg strength wasn't as good (no 50+ attempts).

These things happen... ISU fans love to talk about how Jared Allen didn't receive the Big Sky defensive POY award but won the Buchanan award for best defensive player in FCS.

It's been commonly repeated that ISU HC Larry Lewis wasn't well liked within the conference and Mike Kramer was good friends with both Grabeal and Wulff... thus, leading to the snub. However, there's no doubt, Kane Ioane was a decent enough player.

I worked for a week at KGRE. I liked the city, but got did not like the backroom politicing and backstabbing that was going on there. Is KGRE still up and running?
