Weber State's McBride set to retire at end of season

"After more than four decades of coaching college football, Coach Mac is saying goodbye.

Weber State coach Ron McBride will retire at the end of the season, the Standard-Examiner has learned from sources close to the program. An official announcement is expected to be made Tuesday.

In his seven seasons with the Wildcats, McBride rebuilt Weber State from a program that had just one win the season before he took the reins into a team that went to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history."

McBride changed things for Utah and then he changed things for Weber State. Both programs were dramatically improved because of him. Best of luck in retirement, Coach.

Its about time. I hate him, partially because he seemed a bit dirty, and sketchy, but he has sort of been Montana's Kryptonite occasionally. Anyway, good riddance.

Nobody will say that about me because I wasn't a dirty employee. Listen, McBride was good for the Big Sky, but I don't see any reason for Griz fans to like him Perhaps thats a credit to him.

Or, you could just let the guy go and not throw rocks at his back as he's heading out the door.

Here's a vote for former Weber QB-WR John Fassel....

Or maybe North Texas OC Mike Canales. He has a history in the State of Utah and can recruit there. And I'd absolutely LOVE it if he brought in Fassel as his OC.

I always like Mac, good coach, seemed like a great guy, did a lot for both Utah and Weber.

reason the griz don't like him is because he spoke the truth and called out BH for the chop block and other bullshit tactics

I don't think Coach Mac ever hides anything, always says it like it is, weather you want to hear it or not.

Coach Mac wins his last home game, thanks to CJ Tuckett's 407 all-purpose yards and 3 tds.

According to the Weber website, that's #2 in Big Sky history behind the 437 yards PSU's Ryan Fuqua had against EWU 10 years ago.

I wonder if that's actually correct, though, because Charles Roberts had 409 rushing yards in that game against ISU in 1999. He either had negative receiving or the Weber site isn't quite right.
