Northern Arizona @ Weber State - Could go either way. NAU is balanced offensively, and Weber can't finish a game, so I will go with NAU in this one, even in Ogden.

Idaho State @ Sacramento State - Interesting game. Idaho State will give Sac St's midget corners problems with their passing game just like EWU did, but probably aren't strong enough to get out of this one with a win.

Eastern Washington @ Cal Poly - Toss-up game. Cal-Poly will undoubtedly run all over us, and I doubt Cal-Poly will be able to stop our passing attack. So, this game will come down to who scores the most points, and if it does turn into a shoot-out, EWU should have an advantage. Those that have already counted EWU out of this game already should be reminded that we still have the #1 passing offense in the FCS and will have had two weeks to prepare for this game, while Poly is coming off of a demoralizing defeat at the hands of UC-Davis and are now in the same position as EWU - playing for a winning season. Add to that the fact that there's a chance that these past two weeks may have given EWU some time enough to get more players healthy for this one, and a win is not out of the question. I have also read a couple things that have mentioned Poly's QB being dinged up.

Hey, Ranger, "shredded" is a pretty strong word. PSU's pass defense is a little better than average, UNC ranks at the bottom. Who's going to "shred" whom? Yes, UNC has a pretty good passing QB; he's passed well against just about everyone. Should be interesting. Sac State did a good job stuffing the box last week - we ended up passing as much as running. Can UNC stuff it as well? We'll see.

Hey, Ranger, "shredded" is a pretty strong word.

Fair enough, but I think UNC's Lobato will have success in the air against PSU's secondary. PSU pretty much knew EWU was going to throw almost every down, and Mitchell still passed for 440 yards. Yost from ISU passed for 367, Grossart from NAU 323.

As for UNC's secondary, I don't think PSU is going to throw a lot in this game. I don't see them needing to, as they are going to get plenty of yards on the ground.

Well, as of now I'm at 43-11 for the year, a pretty good year considering how it started when I couldn't pick anything right. Now, I'm holding out for one of my better years since doing these predictions. Being perfect this week will help. Here are my predictions for this week. Montana and Montana State both should have no problems with winless bye, setting up a big showdown for next week. As for the rest, all are my opinions only.

EWU at Cal Poly---The Eagles finally got a week off to try to get healthy for what was supposed to be their stretch run. However, thanks to Portland State, things have got mighty tough to make it back to the playoffs. How will they play for pride now? Cal Poly is in pretty much the same boat, having lost to UC-Davis last week. Here, the Eagles are the better team...EWU 38, Cal Poly 35.

ISU at Sac State---Clearly, the Bengals are rebuilding and getting ready for next year. The Hornets now are totally different than the Hornets that started the season with such high hopes. If the Hornets can just get back to the level they were playing, this will be no contest. However, the Hornets have lost some of their psyche (and their kicking game) since letting Eastern Washington steal a win...Sac State 21, ISU 17.

NAU at WSU---The Lumberjacks are slowly becoming the spoilers in the conference. After a near win against Montana, they killed Sacramento State's playoff chances and halted Northern Colorado's improvement. Talk about playing for pride. Now they have another chance to add to their "bad guy" mentality as they go to play the Wildcats, who will want a win in their final home game for their outgoing coach. Who gets it?...NAU 31, WSU 21.

PSU at UNC---The Bears are clearly better than they were at the start of the year and, if they could play the first half of the season, certainly would get a win or two at least. But as it sits, they have only one more chance to get the win and that is this game when they welcome the Vikings, who are playing some great football themselves. It's a tall order for the Vikings to win this game as the Bears literally have nothing to lose. However,...PSU 27, UNC 14.

If we don't tighten things up Weber is going to walk all over us; home advantage won't mean a thing. In fact, I'd say at this point that Weber is in fact going to win that game. Maybe by the end of the week I'll feel differently. Maybe.

My worries are less with Weber and more with PSU. We've been inconsistent to put it mildly. Turnovers continue to plague us. And face it, we don't have a replacement for McCaffrey, Willie just doesn't have the speed. Do we rely on Brown for offense? On luck? Should everything hang on Kavanaugh? Yep, I'm worried.
