Now NDSU fans will be complaining about this poll. I am sure that 1 vote was for them since UND is nothing and NDSU is God of sports.Wildcat Ryan wrote:http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
Apparently none of the voters in this poll have actually checked out the Old Dominion roster and lack of experience for if they had we would not be ranked 16th. If Blaine Taylor has us at 16 when the season ends he will truly earn the title of basketball coaching guru.

Pretty top heavy. I mean i see a lot of blowouts. I think the top 3 are only legit. George Mason is my sleeper pick on that list.

Mason and Drexel should be switched in the poll.ncaafannie wrote:Pretty top heavy. I mean i see a lot of blowouts. I think the top 3 are only legit. George Mason is my sleeper pick on that list.

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
ODU had their first exhibition game tonight against Barton College. Everybody might remember them by the improbable finish they had a few years ago to win the D-2 national championship. While BC is a D-2 powerhouse it looks as if ODU has a ton of work to do this season and it won't be pretty at times. ODU was down 38-33 at halftime but was able to take control and win 79-68. Therefore, BT has a lot of work to do this season if he and his team want to be successful.TheDancinMonarch wrote:Apparently none of the voters in this poll have actually checked out the Old Dominion roster and lack of experience for if they had we would not be ranked 16th. I hope every single WSU fan/alum/player all die tonight. It would make for a much nicer board. JBB/OPIE/LAKES When those three are in full effect are much nicer than one WSU loser. Hope they die tonight. Nothing but suckers.ODUalum11 wrote:dude, I wouldn't even say that about VCU.grizzaholic wrote:Weber's plane crashed into the salt lake and not one person cared.

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
too be honest, I don't think you should look too much into these exhibition games. Didn't Syracuse lose to some D-2 team in an exhibition game a few years ago and ended up having a decent season? I believe Arizona this past week also lost and they are a pretty decent team. George Mason a few years ago....Heck, ODU had trouble with Barton College earlier in the week.

Not even a Mid-Major poll anymore...It's become a FCS basketball poll it seems...Where is the WAC? Sun Belt? Heck, the Valley has had more basketball success than CUSA outside of Memphis the past 10 years...

Updated poll...Missouri State should be climbing here pretty soon after their opening two wins

glad to see the Bison in the "Others" section - winning the Hilltop Challenge, and amassing a 3-0 record to start the year is a nice way to recover from their embarrassing loss to MSU-Moorhead...

Bison @ 4-0, a win over UWGB this week - climbing through the "others" right about where they should be right now. They keep playing like they have been - they'll be ranked soon.
Bison have UNO and Fresno St in Fargo this week.

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
You know, that isn't such a bad idea. Even tho this is a FCS site, a number of our schools are members of mid-major conferences, an "FCS level" in basketball.anayguy wrote:can we do our own mid major poll and how many mid majors will make ncaa march madness

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
I know your views may have changed in the week or so since you posted that poll, but I'd say that as of RIGHT NOW, Sac has NO case. Unfortunately, like the football Hornets, the hoopsters are too Jeckyl-Hyde to justify conclusion here. I hope that changes in the VERY near future, though. I'm about the only Hornet fan who likes our coach, and I'd like some on-court performance to justify that.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: 2011 Mens Mid Major Poll
Superhornet, it's still way too early to say much about the BSC, and that includes Sac State. About all you can say is Hilliard's going to get his 30 or so. Hell, PSU is second to WSU right now - but so what? Wait until conference starts.
As far as this poll goes, it obviously has a strong East Coast bias. Ho hum.
