JMU/WVU 2012 game @ Fed Ex Field in jeopardy?

Post by BDKJMU »

In a nutshell:
BE has in place a 27 month wait period for WVU to leave the BE, which means WVU playing in the BE through the 2013 season. WVU and the Big 12 want WVU to begin Big 12 play next season. WVU filed a civil lawsuit against the Big East over the 27 month wait period to leave. If WVU does play a Big 12 schedule next season, then they would play 9 Big 12 games, and have to drop one of their current 4 scheduled OOC, which are:
-vs JMU @ Fed Ex
-@Florida State
-Marshall
-Maryland

JMU would be the most likely one to be dropped.....

I heard that JMU was going to buy out the Liberty game in Harrisonburg next year. If WVU drops your game, I wonder if Liberty would return.

Good question. $ wise its a win win for JMU if WVU has to buy out JMU:

Several hundred K buyout + 400-500 K to play @ another major BCS.
or
Several hundred K buyout + several hundred k net profit from an additional home game.

yeah, JMU is definitely the one most likely to be dropped...I think someone over on CAAZone said dropping Marshall would be cheaper for WVU :? ...guess that poster doesn't realize that WVU-Marshall is actually a rivalry game.

It's a real shame, I was looking forward to seeing JMU play West Virginia in a NFL stadium.

Why do people willingly join an organization which has rules and regulations and then turn around and sue them over the regs to which they agreed?

If I were a judge, I'd tell WVU, "tough titties".
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

Most of the sports show talking heads agree with you (as do I). I don't see where WVU has a case, I can only think they are doing this to force the Big East into some sort of compromise.
