1 -UNI 34
SFA 23

SAM 45
SFA 10
common opponent

2- A 6-2 team over an 8-0 team? They only beat El Cid by a TD (past performance?)

3- GSU hasn't played an FBS team yet (they're not going to win) and 1 win is a D2. They have to win both remaining FCS games to take their conference.
El Cid would give them 7 D1 wins but if they lose to Wofford they may not even be the conference champions.

This could go on forever. I am checking stats and records. You guys are all going off past performance and conference histories. I'm trying to go on the current teams records. UNI, GSU, APP St, MSU all have good programs and good histories. It's a crap shoot. SAM could go down in flames like SFA but until the playoffs prove that one way or the other I find it untenable to place any 6-2 team over an 8-0 team (that is playoff eligible)

I wasn't wrong about SFA. I knew the flaws in our 2008 team. I haven't found any in the 2011 SAM team.

Now now SE. Do you ever think he has been playing this game since he was little and that is what is making him a little over the top?

not going off of past years performances. all of the 5 i mentioned play in a stronger conference and just because a team has less losses then another doesnt necessarily mean they are better. i rank teams mostly based on who is better not just on records alone. if thats the case then jackson state should be top 5. also the common opponent thing is stupid. there's always flaws in that argument. shsu also beat sfa on a neutral field. uni had to go on the road. uni has also played a tougher schedule imo. it isnt always fair to compare. you cant rank teams based on common opponents. uni has two loses. to an okay bcs team and my #1 ranked team. i still feel they are a top 5 team and better then shsu. shsu is a solid team i just feel theyre the 6th best team imo

Sagrin SOS Ratings in parenthesis on the far right. SHSU has a significanly weaker SOS than any one else in the Top 10. I understand the rational for ranking them higher, but at the same time it is perfectly reasonable to have them ranked lower compared to some of the other teams.

1(50). North Dakota St (171)

In 2005 we were in this same conference, same teams (ok, no Lamar or UCA) and ended the season 9-2, with an FBS loss and we were ranked 4th going into the playoffs. We didn't even win the conference out-right and had a D2 on our schedule (which SAM does not). It was a shared championship. So that thinking and sagarin just need to be thrown out.

We made the semis and ended up ranked 4th.

I'm ok with SAM @ 4 and let them play it on the field.
As I said, they could totally crash and burn and yeah, they'll be on the same side as NDSU and the BSC teams....inevitable.
We had the good fortune of UM having a down year and then getting past CP. But we did have GSU in the first round. Kind of an anomaly...like SFA & Villanova.

I'd actually be interested in what our sagarin was that year.

I don't get the whole "NAIA" spiel that Lakes is always doing.

to my knowledge, UND was never part of the NAIA
University of North Dakota:
1937-1972 NCAA College Division (Small College)
1973-2010 NCAA Division II
2011-20XX NCAA Division I FCS

However NDSU was NAIA
North Dakota State University:
1937-1951 N/A
1952-1960 NAIA
1956-1972 NCAA College Division (Small College)
1973-2007 NCAA Division II
2008-20XX NCAA Division I FCS

Re: Sagarin

Probably because we put a scare into A&M and they beat a bad MWC. And, of course, we aren't in the conference any more to help them out

NDSU and UND were in the same conference from 1922-2004, a conference that has always been in the NCAA.

As for NAIA thing, it probably has something to do with UND losing to an NAIA team a few years ago. At least that is my guess.

yes - it was about their loss to Sioux Falls two years ago.

If this were actually true, it would be like Barney Stinson finding out he's part Canadian on How I Met Your Mother last night. But, it's not, so no such luck.....

Lakes makes fun of UND playing NAIA or DII teams. We play 3 of them this year because 1, we are in transition, and 2 we needed to fill 7 opponents. We play DII Sioux Falls (who beat us in 09 as fomer NAIA champions) on Saturday, but whats funny is that this Sioux Falls team also played McNeese State earlier this year and lost by only 14 points. But Lakes can only make fun of UND and forget all the DII/NAIA teams NDSU or any other team has ever played. Montana State also played a Sioux Falls opponent..NAIA Minot(ND) State.
