Does Appalachian lose home field advantage in the playoffs?
When I went to App, an article came out citing a rule that a school would lose home field advantage in the playoffs if its fans rushed the field. I've looked all over the internet this morning and can't find anything to that effect, so I figured I'd come here for answers.
Since our fans (stupidly) rushed the field on Saturday, do we lose home field advantage in the playoffs?

Not that I ever heard of. Seeds always get homefield & then highest bid in games with 2 unseeded teams. Money talks for the NCAA - I think they were just trying to scare you.

I'm sure it's real, and I think they even warned EWU about it after the nova win last year (of course, with that being the last home game of the year, I'm sure it didn't matter). Maybe someone eventually does get dinged by the NCAA and they lose a home game, but as for the reasons already stated (i.e. $$$) I don't think Appy will be the first one to suffer this rule.

I'll wager that Appy doesn't lo$$$e a home game.

I hope that the NCAA has better things to do.
And 'rushing the court' is much more dangerous than 'rushing the field' - not sure the NCAA wants to open that can of worms. Each institution should set their own guidelines; while not endorsing the overall wholesale hysteria of it all but seeing it is managed safely.
And if I recall correctly, in Boone they even installed collapsible goal posts which may be easily dismantled for the 'King Street Strut'.

Re: Does Appalachian lose home field advantage in the playof
I found the article that I remembered reading in college. It turns out that home field advantage could be lost if a team rushed the field DURING the playoffs. Article: http://theapp.appstate.edu/index.php?op ... &Itemid=43
So I guess my memory was deceiving me, but I still think it's silly to rush the field after a regular season conference win, no matter how good the game or team. I also think it's important to begin to educate the students about this rule (if, in fact, it still exists) so that we don't make a mistake during the playoffs. We have a huge home field advantage and I'd hate to see that squandered because of irresponsible fans.

EWU fans rushed it, while their A HOLE police squad held back the NDSU fans in the overtime.

Rushing the field is something that shouldn't be taken away. This is a dumb policy, even if it was aimed at the classless hicks in Boone who do need some policing and a bath.

The worst fans I've ever met were your fans at the 48-28 Championship "game" with you guys a few years ago. I know our fans aren't great sometimes, but during that game I watched one of your fans pick up a drunk app fan BY HIS NECK then run away when we called the cops. This happened DURING the game, sometime during the 3rd quarter when the game was already out of reach.93henfan wrote:Rushing the field is something that shouldn't be taken away. After the cops left, Delaware fans began throwing cups, ice, trash, and other stuff at us, completely unwarranted. I had a friend get hit in the head with a block of ice, but he was fine. We were standing on the hill in Chattanooga, right next to the Delaware fans on the visiting side in the stands. They were the sorriest group of people I have EVER seen at a game, and I was appalled to see trash raining down on our mild-mannered group after we called the cops over. We had to leave our spot after that happened.
It was, BY FAR, my worst experience with an opposing team's fans, and I've been to Richmond, JMU, Elon, Furman, Western, Wofford, 3 National Championships, and nearly every home game for the past five years. It was unbelievably cowardly, and to see the other fans react the way they did was terrible.

Dude, no fanbase came out of that game looking good. Everything the UD fanbase did the Appy fanbase did as well, and because of the breakdown, they did it in larger numbers. That game was a cautionary tale of sold out games at Chatty and people getting just flat out drunk hours before kickoff. There's no objective way to look at that game and not come out of it saying that both fanbases behaved awfully at that game.GoAppState wrote:The worst fans I've ever met were your fans at the 48-28 Championship "game" with you guys a few years ago. They didn't rush the field...after the game the work out conscience fans were just trying to jog on the track

I don't believe your fan story either. Our fans are probably the best behaved in FCS, next to Liberty.

We cheated? I don't recall that. And as for class, I do remember when your punk kickoff returner chucked the ball into the crowd and hit a cop. And why wouldn't you believe my fan story?93henfan wrote:GoAppState wrote:48-28 Championship "game" with you guys a few years agoBetter lay off the moonshine, you illiterate hillbilly. Illiterate hillbilly? Really? So what if I get the score a little wrong? The championship was 3 years ago and was so one-sided that I'll bet most App fans don't remember the score, but just that we dominated at every turn and won by a ridiculous margin. Take it as a compliment that I gave you guys another TD and you still lost by 20 in my memory.

Your quarterback's hairdo made his helmet sit way up on his head, which is against NCAA regulations. The refs should have never allowed that.GoAppState wrote: We cheated? I don't recall that.
That cop was talking shit the whole game. Then, when our WR finally defended himself with the chucking, the cop ran after him! Talk about letting your emotions get the best of you. Sheesh. And yes, I'm blaming the refs. If they had been from the Big Sky or MVFC or virtually any state HS association for that matter daHenz win comfortably - remember Flacco's the best thing to ever come out of FCS since Gannon...

I'm inclined to believe that you're joking now. But just in case, here's the best picture I could find from that game: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9 ... c3aatm_JEQ. That looks perfectly acceptable to me. And even if it weren't, that's not cheating. That doesn't affect the outcome of the game. If anything, it puts him in a more vulnerable situation, and you should have injured him at the beginning of the game (we still would have won).93henfan wrote:Your quarterback's hairdo made his helmet sit way up on his head, which is against NCAA regulations. Re: Does Appalachian lose home field advantage in the playof
You're seriously blaming a 28 point loss on the refs? Our goal line stand was legitimate and reviewed with video. Whether the reffing was good or bad does not account for a four TD point difference. And what does Joe Flacco being good in the NFL have to do with losing a championship game? He still threw for 334 yards, but the defense was rotten.Rob Iola wrote: And yes, I'm blaming the refs.
