Democrat sues b/c he lost re-election

Essentially, this is a First Amendment case. THis fucknut is suing a pro-life group b/c its activities contributed to his defeat.
Charging that its activities contributed to his defeat and thus to his "loss of livelihood," Driehaus is suing the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life candidates for Congress and which has been one of the leading and most effective organizations involved in the fight to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood.
The judge, an Obama appointee and former President of Planned Parenthood in Cincinnattie, is hearing the case and not recusing himself. Hmmmm...

I'll wait for the liberals on this board to spin/defend/deflect this.
Turns out I might be a little gay. 89Hen 11/7/17

good lord - the hackery in that article was awful... even by hack standards.

Is Dreihouse (sp.) wrong to be suing over this? Yeah. Shit get said in campaigns, what was said about him was a distortion of the truth - but it wasn't an out and out lie... tough titties kid, that's what happens when you play in the big leagues.

The article however really should have been written in about 1993... the whole of tone of it "golly everybody just sues nowadays..." as an Andy Rooney-esque aw-shucksism has been used for more than 20 years... it's beyond overused... it's just hacky.

As for the judge - he's perfectly capable of rendering a decision in this case. Do you really think a judge would be so short-sighted as to render a decision against SBAL if he is a PP supporter? As T-Man points out - any decision will cut both ways - damaging the MUCH MUCH more potent EMiLY's List as well. Moreover - political speech is the most sacred of speech in the Constitution, and the odds are good that this judge (and almost any judge regardless of their politics is going to side that way)... wait to see what happens before assuming. (besides, even if he does rule in Dreihous' favor - that's what the appeals process is for ;-))

The suit itself is absurd. And under prevailing standards, the judge should recuse himself from the case because "his impartiality might reasonably be questioned." 28 U.S.C. Sec. 455.

I heard about this and immediately thought of this

The Democrat controlled board of supervisors in Polk County, Iowa (Des Moines) tried earlier this year to vote severance pay for the supervisors if they got beat an election. :ohno: Sorry but that is the risk you take if you want a job as an elected official.
