Big Sky football week 9
Saturday Oct 29th
Weber State @ Montana- McBride teams dont quit, but it wont matter. Griz win and Weber's season ends
Portland State @ Eastern Washington- Vikings play well on the road in the annual Dam Cup, but EWU wins at home
North Dakota @ Northern Colorado- The Great West continues to beat on the Big Sky.
Northern Arizona @ Sacramento State- Sacramento State recovers from a heartbreak, and suprisingly blows the visiting Lumberjacks out.
Idaho State @ Montana State- What else needs to be said?

Re: Big Sky football week 9
As I noted on the BSC board, I HOPE Weber takes down Montana, but agree that it's not likely.
My biggest beef with your picks is that given SacTown's current injury situation, I find it hard to believe that we will blow NAU out. A Sac win, to be sure, but I just can't see a blowout. Of course, I'd be terribly happy if we turned in a Saints-esque performance.
Other than that, you seem pretty spot on, Ryan.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Weber State @ Montana - Prior to watching SUU @ WSU, I would have thought this game might have been more of a toss-up. Then I remembered that EWU was up 24-7 on Weber at the half in their game. Fact is, I don't think Weber is good enough this year to beat the Griz in Missoula.
Montana, 28-17
Portland State @ Eastern Washington - Another epic battle in store for the Eags. Good news is that this one is at home. If EWU can get some players healthy enough to contribute in this game and Mitchell stays true to recent form, I think the Eags can and will win this game.
Eastern Washington, 31-27
North Dakota @ Northern Colorado - I don't know how great UND's pass defense is, but this game might be closer than some might think.
Northern Colorado, 24-21
Northern Arizona @ Sacramento State - Could be the best game in the Big Sky this week. Both teams are similarly matched. NAU is trying to play spoiler in this one, while Sac State is trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. I will go with NAU in this one.
Northern Arizona, 28-27
Idaho State @ Montana State - Not a lot to say here, other than Mike Kramer's team probably gets pummeled into submission on his first return trip to Bobcat Stadium.
Montana State, 42-17

Weber State @ Montana- I am reserving my right to change this pick this week depending on what happens with the tasing BS
Portland State @ Eastern Washington - I think the Eags will win this one in a fairly close game. I Might have picked differently a few weeks ago though.
North Dakota @ Northern Colorado- Bear jerky will be made this weekend.
Northern Arizona @ Sacramento State- NAU won't be able to take down Sac St on the road.
Idaho State @ Montana State- The kitties will maul the tiglets.

If we lost all of those guys (except for the guy with his jersey on backwards), we would be in rough shape.weberwildcat wrote:this week is easy to pick every game.

Re: Big Sky football week 9
UND has never done really good in Greeley. All time UND is 11-12 vs UNC and 4-9 in Greeley (although in 2002 UNC had to forfeit 3 wins (1 against UND). So UND technically is 4-8 at UNC. Should be a good game and in no means a cakewalk for UND.EWURanger wrote:Saturday Oct 29th

I am starting to hate going our beat down when we travel to Ogden. I am thinking I will have to skip a game there and see if I can change the outcome!WeberAlum02 wrote:Why would he, the game is in Wa-Griz.Grizalltheway wrote:ww doesn't seem to have much faith in his squad.

Sambrano played the whole NAU game in full capacity, so he should be fine. Unless you were referring to Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano, but that would just be nutty…weberwildcat wrote:this week is easy to pick every game.

That would be cool to see. He would probably be able to lay some good hard hits but would eventually get tossed out of the game and would then precede to destroy the sidelines and locker room.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Sambrano played the whole NAU game in full capacity, so he should be fine. I'm starting to think that Montana could run the band out there and Weber would still lose in Missoula.Grizalltheway wrote:Yeah, but without all those players he listed, things would be quite a bit different, methinks.WeberAlum02 wrote:

No offense to our new conference mates, but I actually agree that if UNC is going to pull out a win this year, this is the weekend to do it. UNC has a good QB and decent receivers and if that line can provide a little better protection that they have been doing then UNC has a shot. Labato is a good QB that has been really hampered by poor pass protection. Of course, I have only watched UNC play EWU. MSU, and UM so I'm basing my opinion from just those games.BigSkyBears wrote:Winners: Montana, Eastern Washington, NAU, Montana State, UNC

Like I posted earlier...UND historically hasn't had that much success in Greeley. If UNC wins...I wouldn't be surprised. Good luck Bears, and good to see you again its been a long 9 years!!EWURanger wrote:No offense to our new conference mates, but I actually agree that if UNC is going to pull out a win this year, this is the weekend to do it. Re: Big Sky football week 9
I dunno. PSU's hard to figure. No shining stars like Mitchell and Edwards. But their rushing game seems to work (1st in the BSC). The QB Cavanaugh is outstanding in the rushing game himself - consistently runs 80-100 yards a game. I don't think any other QB in the BSC matches him. And the freshman Shaq Richards looks like he might fill the shoes of McCaffrey - eventually. EWU has taken some injuries, but so have we. On the face of it, it's PSU rushing against EWU passing. And PSU's pass defense isn't as good as EWU's rush defense. If we could corner Edwards..... I'd guess our special teams are better, but we've had a tendency to pile on the penalty yards. It will be a close game.
