MTST 31-21 NOCO

  • NConf Record: 1-2
    Overall: 8-14

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 2-3

Best Performance: Eastern Washington 42, Sacramento St. 35 (OT) - Nicholas Edwards catches 11 balls for 192 yards and 4 TDs—3 in the fourth quarter—as the Eagles keep their postseason hopes alive.

Worst Performance: Sacramento St. 35, Eastern Washington 42 (OT) - The Hornet offense racked up 545 yards without starting QB Jeff Fleming, but the defense folded like a cheap tent in allowing 29 points after the end of the 3rd. quarter.

Most Surprising Result: Weber St. 28, Southern Utah 35 - Wildcats win most stats but still fall to 3-4 against Southern Utah since 1999.

Southland

TXST 28-38 SELA
SHSU 38-14 MCNSE
SFA 57-21 NICH

    Overall: 12-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 3-1

Best Performance: (#7) Sam Houston St. 38, McNeese St. 14 - The Bearkats are giving up just 9 ppg against FCS competition.

Worst Performance: Nicholls St. 21, Stephen F. Austin 57 - Colonels got 2 kick return touchdowns from Chika Madu, but that wasn't anywhere near enough to offset 7 passing touchdowns by SFA's Brady Attaway.

Most Surprising Result: Southeastern Louisiana 38, (FBS) Texas St. 28 - A Lion team that is presently winless in Southland play becomes the first Southland team to beat Texas State this season.

Missouri Valley

NDSU 38-14 SDKST
SIU 10-17 UNI
INST 14-17 ILST
MIZST 31-17 WIU

    vs. FCS: 1-0
    Overall: 11-4

Best Performance: Illinois St. 17, (#17) Indiana St. 14 - 5 sacks by the Redbirds are enough to hold the potent Sycamore running game under 100 yards.

Worst Performance: Western Illinois 17, Missouri St. 31 - Leathernecks lose 3 straight to Missouri State for the first time ever.

Most Surprising Result: Missouri St. 31, Western Illinois 17 - Bears erase the zero in the W column by forcing 5 WIU turnovers.

OVC

AP 13-17 SEMO
UTM 24-23 EIU
JAXST 14-38 UK
TSU 22-33 EKU

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 8-14

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-4

Best Performance: Eastern Kentucky 33, Tennessee St. 22 - Colonels move to 20-4 all-time versus TSU thanks to 226 yards rushing from Matt Denham.

Worst Performance: Austin Peay 13, Southeast Missouri St. 17 - A Governor loss ends a 6-game winning streak by the road team in this series.

Most Surprising Result: (#10) Jacksonville St. 14, (FBS) Kentucky 38 - I thought the Gamecocks would put up more of a fight against a struggling FBS team.

Patriot League

FORD 24-45 LAF
HC 16-13 BUCK
COLG 17-40 GTOWN

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 19-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 19-15

Best Performance: Georgetown 40, Colgate 17 - The Hoya defense does the unthinkable & holds Nate Eachus to 38 yards on 19 carries—a career-low 2.0 ypc.

Worst Performance: Fordham 24, Lafayette 45 - The Rams put up 565 yards but go 0/5 on fourth down.

Most Surprising Result: Georgetown 40, Colgate 17 - The Hoyas clinch their first winning season since they were a mid-major in 1999 by beating Colgate for the first time ever.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Yeah, it was pretty ugly. The fact is the SELA coach figured out our Athlete/QB can't pass. Something that seems to have escaped the grasp of coach Fran. Hell we fans all know it. We wonder why can't he see he has a top rated guy riding the pine. Oh, right, he is determined to stick with the guy he decided was better..... :ohno:

    Overall: 7-16

Best Performance: Monmouth 31, Sacred Heart 17 - The Hawks win their 5th. straight in Fairfield.

Worst Performance: Central Connecticut St. 35, Albany 63 - Blue Devils do well offensively but give up 6 total touchdowns to Albany QB Dan Di Lella.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

CAA

ODU 37-14 NOVA
UNH 27-21 UMASS
UD 34-38 URI
MAINE 23-22 RICH
TOW 38-27 W&M

  • NConf Record*: 1-0
    Overall: 22-12

    vs. FCS*: 0-0
    Overall: 17-2

Best Performance: (#13) New Hampshire 27, (FBS) Massachusetts 21 - The Wildcats gain about 200 fewer yards than they did against William & Mary, but they also go turnover free.

Worst Performance: (#16) Delaware 34, Rhode Island 38 - Blue Hens allow 484 yards & lose to a 1-5 team, thus ending any hope of a playoff return.

Most Surprising Result: Rhode Island 38, (#16) Delaware 34 - The Rams beat Delaware for just the third time since the late '80s.

Big South

SBU 42-14 VMI
GWEBB 26-24 CCU
LIB 38-16 CHSO
PRESBY 14-48 GASO

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 9-23

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 4-12

Best Performance: Gardner-Webb 26, Coastal Carolina 24 - The Bulldogs did have to settle for too many field goals, but at least one of them was a game-winner.

Worst Performance: Coastal Carolina 24, Gardner-Webb 26 - The Chants lose to Gardner-Webb for the first time since their first meeting in 2003.

Most Surprising Result: Coastal Carolina 24, Gardner-Webb 26 - I guess a humiliating loss provides just as much of a hangover as a big win.

MEAC

NCAT 28-35 HOW (OT)
NCCEN 27-30 HAMP (OT)
BCOOK 14-6 NFOLK
FAMU 27-24 SCSU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 15-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 8-9

Best Performance: Bethune-Cookman 14, (#25) Norfolk St. 6 - Isidore Jackson literally carries the Wildcats on his back to a big win by running the ball 34 times for 206 yards.

Worst Performance: North Carolina A&T 28, Howard 35 (OT) - After Norfolk's loss on Thursday, the Aggies had a chance to surprisingly take control of the MEAC race. Instead, they saw their three-game winning streak against Howard come to an end.

Most Surprising Result: (#25) Norfolk St. 6, Bethune-Cookman 14 - The Spartans lose to BCU at home for the first time since 2005 and the MEAC race blows wide open.

SoCon

CIT 35-7 WCU
SAM 17-35 APP
UTC 42-18 ELON
WOFF 21-26 FUR
PRESBY 14-48 GASO

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 14-7

    vs. FCS: 1-0
    Overall: 10-1

Best Performance: Furman 26, (#5) Wofford 21 - Paladins get 2 picks off Wofford QB Mitch Allen & get away with missing 2 extra points.

Worst Performance: Western Carolina 7, The Citadel 35 - Getting blown out by The Citadel is bad… firing the AD bad.

Most Surprising Result: (#5) Wofford 21, Furman 26 - Fun fact: all 7 touchdowns in this game were scored from no more than 5 yards out.

* - I know UMass is still technically in the CAA this year, but I'm counting them as FBS and as a non-conference opponent for CAA teams.

Tomorrow: non-playoff conferences & independents.

Worst Performance: UC Davis 24, (#25) South Dakota 27 - The Aggies made this game closer than most expected, but it's hard to beat anyone with 5 turnovers.

Most Surprising Result: Southern Utah 35, Weber St. 28 - The T-Birds score 25 straight points in the second half to prevent their playoff thread from being cut.

MVSU 24-30 GRAM (OT)

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 8-9

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 2-4

Best Performance: Grambling 30, Mississippi Valley St. 24 (OT) - Needing overtime to beat MVSU isn't anywhere near impressive, but it's still better than beating a winless DII.

Worst Performance: Mississippi Valley St. 24, Grambling 30 (OT) - Two 100-yard rushers aren't enough for the Delta Devils to avoid consecutive loss #13 to Grambling.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

    Worst Performance: (none)

Most Surprising Result: Georgia St. 27, (FBS) South Alabama 20 (2OT) - The inexperienced Panthers become the first non-FBS team to ever beat South Alabama.
