My point was that it could be perceived as such by others and I thought there was probably a better way to do that. If the song is henfan's explanation, that's fine, but it still ignores the negative connotation of the phrase.

Second, the incidents being referenced in this thread involve black players. If there's an incident used to back up the "Mickey's Monkeys" moniker that involves white players, I missed it.
henfan is not a fan of the way Mickey run his program. Mickey's players are...and have been...behaving like animals, on and off the field...for years...with apparent approval from Mickey. Mickey's Monkeys, again, refers to the team's actions under Mickey's command over his tenure at JMU (and in other UD/JMU bashing threads there have been multiple references to player behavior at Mickey's other stops).

So, the first conclusion that you draw from henfan's comment is that, over the years, it is only black players whose behavior is out of control? Seriously, you think the white players are the only ones capable of controlling their emotions when someone talks shits at them...and only white players the don't get arrested? That's some pretty odd stuff you have in your mind.

You should into the reasons for your reaction to henfan's statement rather than towards henfan's intentions.
Like I said, I understand henfan's intentions and I don't think they were intentionally racist. I believe he was referencing the song mentioned (it's probably well known throughout the UD fanbase as a top 10 hit when they were 30), but it doesn't erase the negative connotations of the phrase.

And I'm not drawing any conclusions, just basing it on the incidents that have been brought up - two involving DJ Bryant, one involving Kerby Long, one involving Justin Thorpe and the arrests of the Rose's and Williams (which may or may not have been mentioned, but you mentioned arrests above). My point was that from an objective standpoint, if somebody came into this thread, saw the incidents mentioned, and saw the phrase Mickey's Monkeys, it comes across as offensive. I didn't even say I was offended, I just said it's offensive to a group of people not associated with Madison. Can you not see that? Other UD fans even noted it came across as edgy. Have you questioned their reactions?

You're so full of s**t. JMU's on and off the field incidents are no worse than the typical Div I team, and certainly no worse than UD's.

For all of the hub bub about this past off season, there was a grand total of one misdemeanor conviction for a DIP I think it was, and that player, a former walkon & 2 year starter, was kicked off the team.

And considering UD's recent history, people who live in glass houses should not throw stones:
-3 players involved in an armed robbery of a 4th's cocaine, marijuana and steroids (that was all over USAToday, ESPN, etc).
-another burglarizing apartments (stolen chicken ring a bell?).
-coach charged with DUI.
-player arrested for stabbing himself (after filing false police reports).
-2 charged with disorderly conduct.
JMU Football:
4 Years FBS: 40-11 (.784). Highest winning percentage & least losses of all of G5 2022-2025.
Sun Belt East Champions: 2022, 2023, 2025
Sun Belt Champions: 2025
Top 25 ranked: 2022, 2023, 2025

Yep, you're correct that all of those things did happen at UD. But you're just jealous now that all of the transgressions listed on henfan's Mickey's Monkeys LP have occured since that time. Looks like there's a new sheriff in town in that respect.

And finally, there were never a litany of UD dopes blindly trying to defend those idiots as well. When we're wrong we damn well admit it, sleep on that one.

Bingo. JMU's approach seems to be to sweep whatever you can under the rug and grin and bear the rest, chalking it up as the price of doing business. It also seems that JMU will let the accused hang around as long as possible to see what they can plea down to or have charges dropped so they can stay on, whereas other schools cut ties immediately. It seems like that's the Mickey culture. It seems like a poor deterrent (along with a spineless league office), which is probably why we see the same thuggishness continue down there year after year.

Oh BS. There was nothing that was swept under the rug.

The 4 JMU players from last December's incident were suspended from all team activities until the legal issue was resolved (charges dropped) last month. If they had been found guilty of a felony they would have been kicked off the team. One was kicked off the team because of a later DIP, and he had had a prior misdemeanor.

If you think someone who is accused of something should be kicked off the team/scholly revoked instead of being suspended pending the issue is resolved in the legal system that's how you could end up with something like the Duke lacross case. Duke was made to look like idiots for kicking innocent players off the team and ended up being sued, and settling for undisclosed like huge sums of $. But according to your logic you would have done the same thing to those players.

Indefinite suspension upon arrest/charges filed. Kicked off the team/scholly revoked if found guilty of a felony, case by case basis if found guilty of a misdemeanor. Thats how JMU does it, and thats probably how most other schools do it to. JMU hasn't had a current player convicted of a felony as far back as I can remember. So BS on JMU being different from most other schools.

So you are asking everyone to alter things for the small number of narrow-minded people whose first instinct is to bring race, political affiliation, religion, or any other agenda-feuled subject into a conversation?

Yeah, that's the key....bring conversations down to the level of the mouth breathing morons.

No, thanks. :tothehand:

And no, I don't question other UD fans...at least those not from a small, piece of backwoods real estate located near Bangor, PA that seems to let their mental patients have unlimited computer access. My fellow Hens are a breath of fresh air...all of them headed directly to Sainthood...after, of course, they've consumed their UDairy Creamery goods.

KC's Cocks..damned proud of them as a group.

In related news JMU is looking to snag a transfer that seems right up their alley from a community relations point of view:

Doesn't say anything in the article about him thinking about transferring to JMU, and can't find anywhere else where JMU is mentioned as a possibility.

2 step suggestion for ya BDKJMU:

1- Loosen panties from rectum that are wound into a knotting wad.

2- Look up the definition of "sarcasm" as in my smack-filled remark about JMU and Mickey's Monkeys being an appropriate landing destination for this criminal.

My two cents:

A) bump
2) He should absolutely be punished, no excuses for what he did
D) It's fokking football...if you can't control your emotions playing a fokking game, you have other problems
4) All you UD albino monkeys are okay in my book, I don't care what BDK says; although unfortunately I don't have any graphs or charts to back that up.
