Are we seriously still debating whether its was OK for this guy to throw haymakers on a football field?

Well now you've been exposed - all along we thought you were an Albany fan - apparently since you can't rationalize why it was okay for this JMU kid to throw two punches on the field then you clearly must be a UD fan. Please change your avatar as soon as possible. You too clenz. And andy. Shame on you all trying to pretend to be fans of other teams.danefan wrote:Are we seriously still debating whether its was OK for this guy to throw haymakers on a football field?

No, in other words I can't believe one person took the time to go frame by frame through a video to prove one poster wrong (when it was pretty obvious he was wrong to begin with) and said he should contact the CAA - when, as has been pointed out, if the CAA cared, they'd have done something already. But clenz played, so maybe they'd listen to him. That's all.

The only JMU win in Newark in recent memory was 09', 20-8. Not exactly a close loss..henfan wrote:More to the point, the coaching staff & university didn't put up with that nonsense. I was referring to the 2004 game in H'burg and made no mention of a game in Newark. Where did you get that from? BTW, the final ended up 20-13 on a dropped pass in the EZ by our wideout.BDKJMU wrote:The only JMU win in Newark in recent memory was 09', 20-8. Not exactly a close loss..

OK, so you're not the best reader. In that case, I suppose I understand how you'd have trouble comprehending that 'Mickey's Monkeys' is a reference to a Smokey & the Miracles song and the base actions that your coach (and, apparently, fans) think are perfectly normal. If you find Rose's Rats more appealing, we can change that for you.
I'm sure it's just poor comprehension and not an attempt by you to interject race into the discussion to divert attention away from the bad behavior by your team's players. It's just so hard to imagine JMU having apologists.

I get it. You've interjected race into the discussion to deflect blame & change the subject. Good try, but any rationale person understands that 'Mickey's Monkeys' is a reference to a Smokey & the Miracles song and the base actions that your coach (and, apparently, fans) think are perfectly normal. If you find Rose's Rats more appealing, we can change that for you.

So let me see if I understand this correctly.
henfan uses "Mickey's Monkeys" to describe the unruly behavior by JMU's players...behavior that have been repeated over several years by a multitude of players whose actions seem to be condoned by their coach, Mickey.
JMU fans claim racism.
Why? Do JMU fans think only their black players are unruly? What kind of thinking is that?

First, let me clarify that I don't think it was intentionally racist. Judging by other posts the UD fans from this thread have made on the board, I have a hard time seeing it as intentional. My point was that it could be perceived as such by others and I thought there was probably a better way to do that. If the song is henfan's explanation, that's fine, but it still ignores the negative connotation of the phrase.Cluck U wrote:So let me see if I understand this correctly.

Second, the incidents being referenced in this thread involve black players. If there's an incident used to back up the "Mickey's Monkeys" moniker that involves white players, I missed it.

henfan is not a fan of the way Mickey run his program. Mickey's players are...and have been...behaving like animals, on and off the field...for years...with apparent approval from Mickey. Mickey's Monkeys, again, refers to the team's actions under Mickey's command over his tenure at JMU (and in other UD/JMU bashing threads there have been multiple references to player behavior at Mickey's other stops).mcveyrl wrote:First, let me clarify that I don't think it was intentionally racist. So, the first conclusion that you draw from henfan's comment is that, over the years, it is only black players whose behavior is out of control? Seriously, you think the white players are the only ones capable of controlling their emotions when someone talks shits at them...and only white players the don't get arrested? That's some pretty odd stuff you have in your mind.
You should into the reasons for your reaction to henfan's statement rather than towards henfan's intentions.
