Yes, because we know nothing about rivalries or playing in big games. Nice try dude.

I said NDSU should beat SDSU handily, not necessarily would.
I agree that we should win, but we were SUPPOSED to win in 2007 also... :ohno:

So anything could happen in Brookings.

One of our best teams/seasons in the history of the program and you just yawn? All I'm saying is it hasn't been easy for us to win there lately. It can and should be done this year.

You have a rival? :tothehand: Who Western Washington? Southern Washington? Northern Washinton? :ohno: Seriously ....I would say you have good teams to play. But Montana fans do not rate beating you as high as beating Montana State, and vice versa. You've played in big games, everybody has, but true rivalry games are another thing. We've played North Dakota State UND,and USD for nearly a hundred years with state pride on the line. You've played Montana for about thirty and are trying to fabricate something with Portland State. So nice try "dude"(who the hell still says dude?), with that weak sauce you are puttin' on the plate. :ohno:

To act like their rivalry with Montana is really that much less of a rivalry than yours with NDSU is stupid. The Dakota Marker was fabricated when the two schools went D-I. NDSU fans would rather beat UND. EWU and Montana and just about as close as Brookings and Fargo.

The EWU/Montana rivalry is less fabricated by fans than the UNI/NDSU rivalry.

Nice attempt at being dismissive, but a "rivalry" is not predicated on schools having to be in the same state. It's also possible to have more than one, or in fact multiple, "rivals". Of course UM considers MSU more of a rival than EWU - they are in-state and have a lot more history. EWU has only been Division I since 1983 and didn't join the Big Sky since '87. The rivalry with Montana has developed due to the proximity of the schools (hour and a half apart), and the fact that both are generally in the upper echelon of the Big Sky Conference and the FCS. The UM/EWU game this season was the most highly attended game in Wa-Griz history, so it's obviously a game people want to watch. Add to that the fact that it's usually a game that's decided by just a few points or a last minute play, and yes, it is a "rivalry", although apparently not by the seemingly high standards that abound in the Dakota's.

As for your smarmy comment about who our in-state rivals are, we don't have one, considering we are the only Division I schools that plays football in Washington outside of the two Pac-10 schools. If you look at just the Big Sky Conference, NAU, PSU, Weber State, Northern Colorado, and Idaho State are all in the exact same position as EWU in regards to being FCS football schools that play in states with 2 FBS schools. Sac State is sort of in the same boat, but they have in-State UC-Davis and Cal-Poly. If you look across the country, there are tons of FCS schools that are in the exact same position. So does the fact that all those schools don't have true in-state rivalries somehow diminish the brand of football that's played, or make the games less meaningful? Do the players not play as hard? I don't understand the point that you're trying to make, if there is one.

The Dakota Marker is just a recent trophy that they created to add a little more weight to the game, but you are talking about a hundred years of these 2 schools playing each other. Yes, UND-NDSU, just like USD-SDSU, is a bigger rivalry, but we still have a healthy rivalry with the other two schools that date back to the 1800's. You are comparing thirty or so years vs. 100 or so. So no, it's not stupid. EWU-Montana or EWU-MSU, does not rivet the whole state of Washington to s T.V.. SDSU-NDSU fill up sports bars, is on every T.V., and overloads stadiums in the Dakotas. A reignition of the UND-NDSU game would shut down the state of North Dakota. But, I guess people can cling to whatever notion of a rivalry they would like. :kisswink:

The EWU/Montana rivalry is less fabricated by fans than the UNI/NDSU rivalry.
I have respect for your team and school cuz you guys have done something at the level you are playing. I would like nothing more than to beat you but I do see SDSU as a rival moreso than I do UNI. Now had NDSU gone up back at the same time you did (Like we should have) my opinion may differ and I'd see you more as a rival. UND I just flat out cannot stand since they have done virtually nothing at any level of football in winning championships. But their fans talk to NDSU fans like they are big shat and NDSU doesn't belong on the same field as them. Given what we did at the previous level in comparison to them they have nothing to back up their big talk. I don't see them as a rival anymore since we don't play them, are not in the same conferece anymore and lastly they haven't done squat yet at this level. Yeah yeah I know they aren't even finished with transition but they have always been big talkers but in football championships have been elusive for them. Now both are at the next level so results on the field will speak for themsleves. I'll take our results through transition and up until now vs. thiers. I think once they get to the BSC next year outside of the proverbial doormats in the BSC I don't see any reason to think things will change up there. I'm not sold on their coach, he's done nothing at either level. Time will tell though but until then for them to knock NDSU is laughable.

I threw my statement out there because it seems NDSU fans, most not all, think UNI is some sort of rivalry game or something. Heck, there is a thread on Bisonville about "rivals" and the original poster was polling people around campus and seemed rather upset that people didn't mention UNI more......

You wrote about "we knowing nothing about rivalries" in sarcasm. My point is you say you have a rivalry, I say you have a nice little game with Montana every year. No it doesn't diminish the brand of football, but a rivalry week is a step up in atmosphere that normal games just don't reach. The atmosphere at a MSU-Montana game is probably way higher than either of those schools playing EWU. I'm not saying your games aren't important, there isn't just as much emphasis on winning them for the the players, the fanbases, and state pride. If EWU loses the whole state of Washington doesn't hang it's head. Yes,I believe there are plenty of players that play a lot harder in rivalry games, IMO. Otherwise the more talented team would win every time. In '07, I truly believe the Bizzzon had a more talented team than State, and the Jacks ruined NDSU's perfect season. (Yes, I probably was little more snarkier than I should have been, I'm a little under the weather, my bad.)

NDSU fans want to kill UNI & SDSU. those are our rivals, SDSU basketball game is sold out every year at both places.

Minnesota is a Rival too with the sold out football and basketball games and we've beaten them in other sports too!

Football is sold out at all 3 schools when NDSU plays there. Heck Oral Roberts & Oakland have been a great rival in basketball as well.

The buzz about the potential #2 vs #3 on oct 29 of NDSU/UNI is crazy in fargo and its ALREADY sold out

Jesus you are stupid. Minnesota isn't our Rival. They view us as a rival about as much as the Minnesota Vikings do.

I think the UNI game has turned into quite a nasty series. We stole your coach......UNI has thumped NDSU pretty good in the past. UNI and SDSU are clearly our two most entertaining conference foes. Rivalry? It is moving quickly in that direction. As a fan, I view the UNI game with more interest than the SDSU gam.....to me it is more of a rivalry than SDSU. But.......the SDSU game is still a blast as well.

IF NDSU starts to win some games against UNI in the next few years, I would easily consider it a rivalry. Especially if there are multiple games that could determine the conference champ like this years game. Currently this is only a rivalry to us because we haven't beaten you yet and to get where we need to go, goes through you.

That's a big if btw...

Lakes and BisonBacker aka JBB.

Since you brought up DII success. I would point out that UND has won a champsionship and much much more recently than you. THey also dominated your rivalry before you moved to FCS. The SDSU/NDSU basektball games are not sold out. The NDSU/UNI game is NOT currently sold out. Oakland and ORU must be really concerned about that lower tier finish men/women conference team the last couple of years.

Carry on.

Wow dude, insecure much? The only reason your rivalry is a big deal is because the FCS teams in the Dakotas are the highest level of football available to watch, much like with the Montana schools. Congrats, I hope your pretentious efforts to belittle other rivalries inflates your wounded ego. :thumb:

UND will always be NDSU's biggest rival. Just look at the threads on Bisonville there is probably about 100+ just about every topic at UND or Grand Forks. You don't see any about UNI except when its a gameday thread, and there might be a few on SDSU. But everything on BVille is UND this and UND that. And UND has had more success since the 1990's than NDSU. Look at hosting a playoff game...congrats NDSU on hosting your first ever at the Fargodome since it was built in 1992!!! Gophers a rival..   I think Wisconsin-Minnesota is a rival, UND-Minnesota is a rival in hockey, NDSU-Minnesota    That is classic Lakes. That was beautiful. So when ORU leaves the Summit who is your rival in bball going to be? Omaha or St. Cloud State (when they join the NCC 2.0 league).

Carry on.
Nice try but not even close. Don't you have a dead coyote to be pulling down from a billboard somewhere?

That's good. I thought you were much to sane to be JBB. I apologize for the assertion. I believe the Coyote was removed. If you want a decent laugh read the conspiracy theories by the bunny faithful . According to them the USD administration placed the coyote on the billboard. Just be prepared to break out a tin foil hat.
