Well, after the first two games, yes, a sellout would have been nice, but considering pre-season we were expecting to average around 21-22k a game, I'll take 24,100 for a game against Maine.

That puts us at, if I am not mistaken, an average 24,933. That's a 79% increase over last year ... I'll take it.

This weekend's game against Villanova has been sold out since August (I'm sure it helps that it's family weekend, but still) ... and there are also less than 1,000 tickets left for the season finale against URI in November. A lot of people speculated that the Maine game would be the lowest attendance because it was sandwiched between two big games (homecoming and family weekend) in a 3-straight game homestand. Even with Maine ranked and the weather beautiful, it's a tough sell, but if you told JMU fans that Maine would be the lowest attendance at 24,100, we would take it in a heartbeat. This season's attendance has far exceeded expectations.

It sort of sucks that we didn't get a crack at him this year after the bodyslam on Devlin last year.

Well, since it's the same player, yeah. He has a history of doing dumb, careless, etc shit on the field.

I don't feel that the hit last year was "cheap", and I made my point on that last year....

This, however, is completely different. He needs to be suspended at least a game by the league.

If leg blocking, then picking up a quarterback by the back of his jersey, then slamming him to the turf on his shoulder, after you told the media earlier in the week that you intended to take him out isn't cheap, then I totally agree with you guys. :thumb:

So I do think harping on an FCS team because they only averaged 24,000 instead of 25,000 is a little nitpicky...... :twocents:

Let’s see Bryant had:
-2:55-2:58 mark: Maine player #32 ran up behind Bryant. You could tell he was taunting Bryant before he bumped into/shoved him (notice his head bobbing). Also another Maine player took a swing at Bryant, so Bryant turned and swung at #32..
-2:59 mark: Maine players #76 (I think) shoves & CLEARLY head butts Bryant, so Bryant turned and swung.

Yet you don’t see any UD posters on here calling for the Maine players involved to be punished, only Bryant. Example of the delusional world that some UD fans live in  , and never losing any opportunity to take pot shots at JMU  . Bryant isn’t going to be punished by Yeager or Matthews because he shouldn’t be, because he was provoked by both Maine players.

 Amazing interpretation. #32 bumped into/shoved Bryant?? Eye exam dude, you have catarracts. I'll give you a quick one-sentence taunt, but that's it.

Bottom line, in less than 5 seconds he fired off 2 punches, that's an undebatable fact.

Please, after all that stuff with the Oregon kid popping the Boise St guy after the Boise St guy taunted him, pretty much the national consensus was "yeah, he got taunted, but you don't swing at guys". You can paint it anyway you want, but the kid threw two pretty obvious punches. I understand you want to minimize it and make it a UD/JMU thing, but you're embarassing yourself by pretending it didn't happen and that it isn't something that should be talked about. A punch is a punch, and two punches is two punches - nothing good about that at all.

You can paint it anyway you want, but you're totally ignoring the fact that Bryant:
-had a punch thrown at him.
-Was shoved by #32 and #76
-Was head butted by #76.
You're embarrassing yourself by pretending Bryant had nothing done to him and threw 2 unprovoked punches, neither of which landed.

Yeagar has probably already seen this and won't take any action against Bryant because no action is warranted.

I'm not the one trying to make it a JMU/UD thing. Its pretty obvious some of the the UD posters on here have already done that. This was an incident that involved JMU and Maine. But was this brough up by a Maine poster? No. Have any Maine posters yet commented on it? No. Notice how this was brought up by a UD poster, with 9 UD posters commenting in this thread so far.

How many posters have commented on this so far:
UD: 9
JMU: 5
Maine: 0
Any other schools: no more than 1-2

This is painfully obvious that this is just some UD fans trying to take digs at JMU any chance they get. But that's nothing new.

Well beyond the obvious shenanigans, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? What does Wilmington DE have to do with anything? Did Bryant punch a kid from Wilmington? Do you have video?

Where? I don't see him getting hit by a punch anywhere - I call shenanigans on this.
BDKJMU wrote: -Was shoved by #32 and #76

And where is it allowed to punch people when you get shoved? I didn't realize that was now allowed - should make getting up from piles a lot more interesting now that people can take full swings at anyone who bumps them.

Seriously, how weak is it to actually defend what this guy did? I'm not saying he's a thug, he's probably not, but defend that rather than go all the way to the other side and try to pretend that he didn't do anything wrong here and that punching was perfectly legit. You guys have a habit of glossing over things that may impact JMU football. Heck, you guys tried to say that Thorpe was just the innocent victim of second-hand marijuana smoke when he tested positive. I get that you are trying to be optimistic, but sometimes you guys get so contorted defending stuff like this that you end up looking silly.

That was ONE poster on here, JMUSkinsfan, who tried the 2nd hand smoke BS excuse (sorry Skins). There was a 2nd person over on the Zone who gave credence to the 2nd hand smoke BS, and there was a whole slew of us who shot that BS down.

BDKJMU-

I like your posts, you're a pretty intelligent guy. You do realize that I started this thread and fellow UD posters joined in because we don't play this year and frankly we enjoy f#@$ing with you guys because you really don't take it well and get all fired up and frequently irrational. :)

That being said, take a deep breath, and show us where on that tape DJ Bryant was punched that he was "the victim" in this episode.

Check out this repsonse (post #20 bottom of page) on the JMU board from a former Dukes player over the Bryant issue. I couldn't have said it better.
