I want Madson back, they need to resign him.bluehenbillk wrote:Season was a failure, no argument possible.
2012 - will be a little different look: Gone are Oswalt, Ibanez & Lidge. May be back, may be gone are Madson & Rollins.

If it makes you feel any better, USNA turned me down. Anyway, I didn't say I turned down WP. A nomination and appointment offer are not the same. Several of my classmates did turn down FSA appointment offers.Ivytalk wrote:Yeah, right. Turned down The Point for the citadel. Didn't apply to VMI. Was nominated to WP but withdrew my application when I decided to go to The Citadel. Nice try though.

Why is Oswalt definitely gone? Or Ibanez and Lidge for that matter?bluehenbillk wrote:Season was a failure, no argument possible.

I wouldn't call the season a failure. Best record in baseball is a great accomplishment. With eight teams in the playoffs, the MLB post-season is more like a tournament any more. The best team probably loses more often than it wins at this point.

Well said, Joe. I think bluehenbillk overstated things. I hope we try to re-sign Madson and Oswalt, at least.JoltinJoe wrote:Why is Oswalt definitely gone? Or Ibanez and Lidge for that matter?bluehenbillk wrote:Season was a failure, no argument possible.

And I hope Fordham finds a way to stuff the Quackers today!

I would like a mea culpa for all the poo-pooing in my general direction when I pointed out (correctly) that Ryan Howard's contract was both unnecessary and terrible. That is all.

No need for Oswalt, unless he's taking a big pay cut. Blanton is coming back with his final year and then there's Worley. After the top 3 in the rotation, I can live with a Worley #4 and Blanton #5 rotation. It would be fantastic if they can keep Madson, but I put signing Hamels long term way above resigning Madson.Ivytalk wrote:Well said, Joe. I think bluehenbillk overstated things.
