What I meant (should've said) was Ike put us there and Kennedy followed Ikes lead by providing support, LBJ escalated our involvment and Nixon/Ford were the administrations the ones to get us out(1973-1975). That's not talking about the congress. Bush got us into the Middle East but Democrats and Republicans congressmen and women put us there as well.

Everything in American politics is Republican vs Democrat.
