Phils up 7-0 in the 9th. Cards just scored 5 in the 4th to tie their game at 5-5
Best of both worlds. Phils tuning up and the redbirds being kept out of the dance. :thumb:

Where are all the morons today saying baseball needs a 2nd wildcard? Could you ask for a better ending? 2 teams in each league tied for the WC & the #2 & #3 seeds still up in the air going into the last day.

Would be nice to see the Phils get 102 tonight but with Blanton starting & only going 2, it'll be everyone gets an inning night tonight.

How pathetic are the Braves on two fronts - the team - they've blown a 10.5 game lead on the WC & the fans - lots of empty seats last night & tons of Phillies fans there.

I was actually surprised at the Atlanta fan support early in game one of this series... when they had the lead.

As soon as the Phils went up 3-2, that place started clearing out.

Last night the Rays played their (supposive) rival Yankees and had just made up 10 games in September to be tied for the wild card with two games to play...

Even the fair weather fans should come out in droves, right?

Attendance was 18K and change. :ohno:

Side note: Unless something is going to change - we're probably watching the tail end of the Jimmy Rollins years in Philly. Re-signing him has been a question already - now he's popping off that he is going to be looking for a 5-year deal. Good luck with that Jimmy - if anyone gives you that deal it won't be the Phils.

Just win another WS before you go & it'll all be cool.

Tonight will be the first time I've dialed up four games on the quad screen on MLB.TV. Gonna watch all four of the games involving the wild card contenders. :thumb:

No doubt. I love this year.

In both leagues, the only thing certain is the team with the best record knowing where they are playing. Everything else is up in the air.

And there are 4 other games that have playoff implications - Detroit, Texas, Arizona and Milwaukee - all playing for the number 2 seed.

Actually, Jon, if the Cards win and the Braves lose, it doesn't matter what AZ does or Milwaukee does. We will get Milwaukee automatically then. So root for that!

It would be cool if the teams in each league matched each other and we had two one-game playoffs tomorrow.

Phils get that record 102nd win and enter playoffs on a high note! Brewers nose out Dbacks for #2 seed in NL.

102!! Best regular season in club history!! Not a career year of the bunch, save for Worley.

Now the REAL games begin and the cardinals are in the way, Game 1: Lohse vs Halladay, MISMATCH!!

Get your lawn chairs out on Broad Street now, you can smell it!

ESPN had Garcia listed to open for the Cards, and he's given the Phils some trouble recently.

I hope it is Lohse.

I've probably been to about 30-40 Braves games since I've moved down here and only one game that I've been to has been sold out; Bobby Cox final game last season. Otherwise it's half empty and by the 7th inning there are usually more Phillies fans in the stadium. The fan base for every sport in Altanta is very fickle (minus the Falcons, maybe). Better for me, it's almost like a Phillies home game for me when I go to Turner Field (minus the sold out stadium). It's even sad watching the game on TV. I remember watching a game last season and you could hear the "Beer Here" vendor on the telecast, AND THEY WERE IN FIRST PLACE AT THE TIME!

On another note, Derek Lowe may have a future as a batting practice or home run derby pitcher. :twocents:

Read somewhere that the Braves set their lowest attendance this season since 2004.

I like the 5pm start Saturday. Kids can actually watch a whole game if they choose. And that's not even the early game. Shadows will be a bitch for the hitters.

Did MLB just start 2pm Saturday games this year? I don't recall them last year.

Truly pathetic. Atlanta should be embarrassed. :coffee:

Be careful. All the D-Backs games, no matter how far they go will be midweek.

I hope they sellout, but I'm not assuming they will.

Good point, Jon. :thumb:

And, the D-Backs will have weekend games if they play the Cardinals in the NLCS, now that I think about it.
