"As part of a worldwide media campaign ahead of the September 21 motion for Palestinian statehood, Abbas' regime has produced a radio spot that includes Obama saying the following to the UN General Assembly in 2010:
"When we come back here next year, we can have an agreement that can lead to a new member of the United Nations, an independent, sovereign state of Palestine living in peace with Israel."

Obama Administration officials insist the president was simply expressing his hopes that a two-state peace deal would be concluded by now, but Abbas states at the end of the radio spot: "If he said it, he must have meant it."

I like how the majority of the world's nations approve of a Palestinian state, but one powerful country on the Security Council can just deny it all from happening. And then we wonder why the rest of the world hates us...

A majority of the world's nations are anti-Semitic, too. :coffee:

I am particularly amused by how nearly the entire Arab Muslim world has systematically and shamelessly disenfranchised and impoverished its centuries-old Jewish communities over the past decades, and scapegoats Jews and tiny Israel for every problem ever suffered, from unemployment to hangnails to impotence.

Some Palestinians have a right to complain, but no one else.

There is no nation of Palestine and there never has been. If we make one we'll be making a new thing. Not that that hasn't happened before.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Right. And the Israelis could take down every settlement and retreat to the 1967 borders, and the radical Islamists would still deny Israel's right to exist and want to push them into the sea. :ohno:

Didn't Arafat basically get offered that 10 years ago and he walked away?

This is something that the US should just walk away from.

If I'm President this is what I do:

If the Palestine state comes to a vote - I abstain.

Face it: There has been conflict in the Middle East forever. When our grandchildren die, there will still be conflict in the Middle East. We pump needless $$ to both Palestine & Israel every year. Stop it. If Israel wants to BUY weapons from us for their own protection, sell it to them that's fine (they pay us). If Israel needs our help to fend off invasion or from military action, we'll step in.

But otherwise, the message is this: You boys our on your own, work it out. If you both want us to help out with something you can give us a call, but we have problems of our own & a lot better places to spend/save our money.

A bit OT, but my roommate and his lady are watchin' the 700 Club right now (apparently this counts as news to them), and they're implying the end of the world is near because nations are supporting a Palestinian state...

...and then he tells me, "We're living in the end times my friend. You should accept Christ."

I mean I know he's religious and there's nothing wrong with that, but yikes! :?

The sinners are about to get smited, or smitten, or smoted (I'm not going to look it up) and the God fearing folks get to sit in the kingdom of heaven listening to Celine Dijon while saying, "I told you so!"

Good times are coming!
